If you take the headlights off of your car or better yet.. the headlights and taillights off like I do does the car not go into gear? After I did this the car won't go into gear and I have turn the key to the ignition on position and then put it in neutral to start it. Haven't put the lights back on the car yet but I was wondering for when I replace the center consul if I need to do a bit of a fix b/c of this.

+1, the rear lights are needed or I think you can turn the key and get it in neutral and crank it.

Cant be the headlights, i drove mine with no headlights in quite a few times, but never without taillights.

First or second gen?
The first gen the lights aren't hooked to the shift interlock in any way so it shouldn't matter, on the second gen the scil module is connected to part of it so it's possible...
