Hard shaking

Hello all I just purchased a 01 v6 LS a week ago and during the test drive there was a hard vibrating coming from the rear passenger side, my mechanic quickly looked at it and said it was the bushings around the control arm. Wondering if anyone has had similar problems. And if this was a good diagnosis? (additional info Ive been driving for a week and its getting worse, sounds like Im on a Harley now)
 
Get someone to drive behind/beside you and see if they can see one of the rear wheels bouncing up and down or not.
 
there was a bad vibration during the test drive and you still bought the car...wow
 
Just an update guys, took the car to the local Lincoln service center and they told me that it was the hub, it is now causing a problem with the ABS and the traction control. The repair shop at the place where I bought the car claims they replaced that already so idk what to do

my uncle is a mechanic and he replaced the hub which turned out to be the entire assembly.....but the traction control light and the ABS lights are still on any help?

With a Ford specific code reader, you can get the trouble codes to determine where the problem(s) might be. It could be one or more wheel speed sensors, or it could be something serious with the controller. (It is more likely to be a wheel speed sensor issue.)
If you can't get the code read, start with the wheels that have been worked on lately, and inspect and clean the sensors, tooth rings, and check the wiring.
 
thanks, turns out the original dealer where i bought the car from replaced the parts with USED PARTS and so the vibrating continues. idk if this is the reason for the vibrating but Ive checked and the new parts are about 600 looks like ill be coughing that up. its the knuckle, hub and bearing assembly. anyone have any experience replacing this?
 
Why the hell would you buy a car that already has a knocking problem? I dont mean to be rude but that isnt very smart.. ATLEAST have them replace the parts then buy it, you shouldn't have to cough up any extra dough to fix the car you just bought... Where is FordFan.. insert you're line please...
 
look guys i got doped, i heard the vibrating made the guy get in the car and ride with me, he swore that he would fix it, even gave me a "3 month 30,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty" and told me i would have to pay for anything. come to find out the warranty is for internal engine and tranny only and the all but lied about fixing it.....

the story wont help me, ima full time college student who has to work 40 hrs a week to support myself i need a car that runs

again any help is greatly appreciated
 
You always should insist that they fix everything before you make any sort of offer or commitment on the car.

This is how I have always looked at it. If they were really going to fix it, they would have fixed it before they ever showed the car to you or anyone else.

maybe they did what I did, and not tourqe it correctly...thats what I did, and the axle was able to move far enough from the ABS sensor to cause an ABS and Check traction control light. I work for a trucking company and was able to borrow a torque wrench that went that high.

ok so i bought a new assembly and the vibrating is back and after some looking at other threads i read something about a torque? any info on this? I purchased the entire thing took the bad one out and put a new one in

You have to tighten it very tight, 303 lb-ft, otherwise it will be damaged and you will have to replace it again.
 
correct, except last time you said 220ft lbs

mine took about 3 days to go bad again. but yes, you have to have that axle tight inside the bearing, or if fails...and I mean tight...I used a 8 inch half inch drive ratchet with a 4 foot pipe on the end of it, and turned it 1 complete turn, after I got it as tight as possible with the ratchet.

Jack the car up, and see if the wheel wiggles.
