I just have to say I love my LS, I've owned mark 7's then mark 8's, have a TC, even owned a 95 conti, hands down this LS is freakin awesome, what I don't get everyone on hear says if you want a fast car don't get a LS, but my LS is faster than the mark 8's were at least in stock form, tho my LS is a early production 2000 that has the 3.58 gear.

Congrads on the new(to you) LS.

People say don't buy an LS if you want fast as it's much harder to make it a fast car compared to many others. The 4.6 quad cam in the mk8 has a good aftermarket while the 3.9l is very limited and anything beyond the basics everything has to be all custom made.

Welcome to the forums. Glad you're happy with the car.

Mechanicboy, a lot of Mark viii guys have a notion that Marks are faster than the LS, which is not true. I think that's what jt is refering to.

Welcome!!!

They can be made faster a lot easier then the ls, but stock vs stock, ls is faster, I think. Can't they put a terminator engine on mark 8? I thought I read someone looking for one of those on the for sale forum. Can't do an engine swap on the ls, unless it's another ls engine.

Yes. My buddy has a 97 and he is having terminator motor put in his.

I always wondered if the Jag 4.2 engine is identical externally to the 3.9. If it is then that would be a nice swab if your 3.9 was on it's last legs, or dead.

I have searched, but where is the best/ cheapest place to buy a tuner for my 2000 LS? Is SCT the only option? also does the sct tuner have a 93octane tune, since 93 is readily available around here? Has anyone proven that it helps fuel mileage at least when your foot is out of it? thanks Jeremy, new LS Lover

SCT is the only source. The pcm needs to be reprogrammed; chips don't work because each pcm is essentially unique. The LSes pcm will adjust for the octane by itself. I noticed a hit when we went from 92 to 91 octane here in The People's Republik of Kahleeforya.

As far as a dealer, you should be able to find the closest one to you from SCT's site, or google.

Welcome to LVC.:)

Post up some pictures. Any other plans then the programmer?

I just figured there was a sponsor on here that sells sct tuners, or gave discounts for being a LVC member.

Gen1 Marks are faster then Gen2s. A good running Gen1 Mark will give a Gen2 LS a run for it's money but the average Gen2 LS is faster stock for sock then a Mark. Not by much and the driver mod can change that anyway.

Where in central Illinios are you? I live on the Illinios side of St Louis. Some of us get together during the summer to BS and take a few pictures. You will have to come down sometime.

Well I live in the dead center of IL in Bloomington/Normal twin cities. I own my own Auto repair shop. My father started the business as a FORD only shop, since he has retired I work on all makes and models, I needed the diversity, and business has never been better. I have learned a lot from owning a LS, I have changed ball joints in them, many window regulators, I can now change a clockspring in 15 minutes. The only thing that really suck is working on is the timing chains, but that is why I own the car for 1k$ and only 100k miles. I already rebuilt the starter, alternator, and resealed power steering pump, put new brakes and rotors on it. What I don't get is why lincoln needed 2 pumps for the P/s and fan and Jeep grand cherokees get away with just one pump and also have a hydraulic fan and P/S.
