Does anyone know a trick

You might regret removing the thermostat on the cooler days. I had a 160 in a 72 Ranchero one time and the heater never would get warm on cold days. It seamed to rob a little power by staying cold. It might be different on these new fuel injected engines, but that's my experience. I might drop the temp on your thermostat before I would remove it all together.

On a side note, I installed the Stant thermostat and it no longer is over heating. It is running warmer than it used to, but its not over half way at its highest and its not overheating. So put me on the list of people who won't use Murray thermostats in the future.

Would you guys recommend (I'm in MIAMI) taking off the thermostat?

not no butt hell no.

the design of the thermosat housing REQUIRES a themostat, otherwise you lierally bypass the radiator with no tstat in place.

the washer on the bottom portion of the stat is what makes water go thru the radiator when the stat is open

remove the stat...and you've disabled the radiator loop

put a stant 160 in there, and the car will run around 172ish

So like posted back a few responses about putting in a 160 degree t-stat what brand would I go with?

stant PN# 33396
application says all 4.6 except dohc.
i used them in my dohc for well over 300,000 miles

I didn't upgrade pumps, for someone told me the pump speed was designed to allow more cooling time in the radiator? Maybe it was in my sean hyland book? Maybe not, I heard that somewhere though.

the pulley controls the pump speed, the impeller design is not relevant to pump speed.
