Are you letting it rain on your steering wheel? I suppose that almost anything is possible, but it is far more likely that your clockspring is failing and there is no real relation to the rain.

Unless the added moisture in the air is shorting an already bad clockspring.

But I agree, change the clockspring, that's the real issue.

lol nahhh im not letting it rain on my steering wheel but it only happens when it rains so i figured it had sumthing to do wit that .....
but thankzzzz ill get the clockspring changed an see wat happens

i dont know anything about the LS but if it has a GEM module then that could be the culprit if it is truely rain thats causing the problem. the clock spring is very likely but i wouldnt think rain would affect the clock spring. i have seen windshield leak and drip down on the GEM modules and cause different electrical problems. actually was fairly common in the f150's at one time.

Please don't take offense at this, but the first half of your statement could be true. The LS doesn't have A GEM or body module. Instead, it has a Front-Electronics-Module, and a Rear-Electronics-Module. Between the two of them, they do what a GEM would. However, the connection between the steering wheel controls and the radio is direct. No electronic modules are involved in it. If water was getting to the FEM or the REM, the radio wouldn't be a concern at all. (I'm pretty sure it would kill the car, as the REM controls the fuel pump, and the FEM controls lighting, some engine cooling, ...)

no offense taken. wasnt sure if it had a GEM. glad you cleared that up.

everything electric goes through the GEM on equiped vehicles. the water problem on the f150's caused some strang things to happen such as PATS problems, no starts, wipers, heat controls, anything electric.

clockspring

Usually the radio controls get crazy, then the cruise control does not hold speed, and the horn may stop working,,,all caused by a failing clockspring.

My radio volume button does that when its cold and I first start the car. When I go to turn it up it goes down, or it will go up then down. After the defroster and heater warm up the cabin it goes back to normal.

But my airbag light is on, and the radio control buttons have failed and just recently the horn is acting funking it takes a long time to beep. All this is the clockspring, but I don't think it has anything to do with the radio volume button, so I think its just moisture in the cabin because of the cold, or just the cold.

SO basically eveyone say the clockspring is the problem rather water mouisture or watever may be happeing just check the clockspring change it if need be an see if the problem goes away ....thats all well an good ill do that ...thankzzz

but wat if it doesnt wat to do then ...jus askin in advance

Okay, so you know that the clockspring is failing. We all know that a failing clockspring causes issues with or failure of the radio controls from the steering wheel, but you still don't think the clockspring is the problem?

Everything that is on the rotating part of the steering wheel goes through the clockspring.

If it weren't the clockspring, then there would only be three other things that it could be.

1. The switch assembly on the steering wheel.
2. The wiring between the clockspring and the radio.
3. The radio itself.

yep clockspring

yes the air bag light comes on too! its all about the clockspring! change it!
