Would a catch can be benificial on our cars?

im not quite sure what you are talking about, my mark has 126k miles and never had a gummed up problem
If you took your intake manifold up and looked at the IMRC's you would tell me otherwise.

Wouldn't the breather system that MMR puts out work just fine too? I don't understand what it is used for really.

Every car can benefit from a catch can.
And you're right, the IMRCs may keep working... but at 126k they're gonna be pretty gross.

I took the intake of a motor with 76k and was like holy hell I wonder what my 247k mile Mark looks like.

i actually at the moment have my imrc plates off, i agree they were gunked up, but where are you putting this catch can? on the line that runs from the pass. valve cover to the intake, or is it the line to the vaccuum peice on the back of the plates?

Yeah mine were gummed up when I first looks. never had an issue with them working. I run breathers on both valve covers now.

It's been on the too add list for a long time.... just haven't done it...
I can say with out a doubt in my mind that when you run high boost, a catch can is a must. I have a line running from both cam covers into a vented breather filter style catch can that is buried in the drivers side fender.
Bye bye oil spray and foul combustion odors.
Cam cover mounted breather filter had oil going all over the place and stunk up the cabin. IMHO, Catch can breather buried in the fender is the only real fix.

So your running no pcv back to the intake. Just a can with vents. I like that Idea. I haven't had any issues with the breathers spraying oil around yet but when the boost goes on I'll need the cans. Are you using a check valve for the vac lines to the hvac system?
Don't just get a regular catch can. These are pricey because you can make your own but if you are boosting use something that is proven to work right.

I was thinkin about a beer can with some duct tape. Tie it up with some coat hangers.
I think all I have left for pollution control are two magnaflow cats and ford o2 sensors. Everything else is long gone.
The IAC recycles air to the metered side of the intake tube. All crankcase air vents to atmosphere through the catch can vent, and the blower vents to two blow off valves on either side of the intercooler. No crankcase air is recycled back into the blower.
My catch can is similar to the moroso one. A real nice looking billet piece with a petcock valve. Parts and labor, I think I have about $500 in the complete catch can system. Well worth it not to smell, or see spent oil. You can see the PCV plugged off if you look close in the picture.
