And The Blizzard Is On

blowing snow and 20 degrees here, winds are gusting to 45mph...so its freaking cold.

Pete, I was gonna ask, did the LSD make the LS drivable in the snow? I got stuck on flat ground in the LS last year....

Yep. It did make a big difference.

whats up with your guys cars? i always thought my LS did really well in snowy conditions. ive never got it stuck in the two years ive had it and ive put it through some pretty bad conditions. i t must just be the drivers. :D

I did have trouble one morning when the car was parked in the street in front of my house. We had about a quarter inch of snow. Almost nothing. But I could not get any grip. The tires just spun. I rocked back and forth for about 5 minutes before I finally got free. Never had any other problem. I guess the snow was just extra slippery that day.

Ha, that reminds me, last year I got stuck on a small patch of ice at Walmart. I was parking on the side, near the garden stuff, and stopped for someone taking off and where i stopped was on a patch of ice about 60' by 15', totally flat, when I tried to go the tires just spun. Took me about 5-10 min to move off the ice. There wasn't any snow either, just a patch of ice in shade that didn't melt, ha! My cars terrible in snow though.

Wow how do you guys do it? Its 83 here at 1030PM. I never take my summer tires off.

Nice pictures and rides man. Its hard to tell from the pics whether or not the truck is diesel. What motor is in it? 6.8 gas or 6.0/7.3 diesel?

Thanks,
It's a 1999 6.8L V10. Bought it 5 years ago. Would like to upgrade to an 05 6.0 Stroker here sometime soon. It's got plenty of power but I want a diesel now.

I thought it had the gas engine. I can usually pick them out by the outside mirrors. We have got a 05 F-550 with the 6.0 and that truck is a monster. It's about 11,000 pounds empty but she holds her own with the help of 650 ft-lbs.

If you do get the 05, i would highly suggest getting aftermarket or Ford warranty with it. The 6.0 likes braking down. The truck had the fuel tank replaced 3 times in the first 2 years of ownership, cracked cylinder head, bad injectors and so on. I gotta say though i love driving the truck.

Good luck with the search for the new one.
