And as soon as car warms up (about 3 miles) it start acting weird then I get the 'ETC engine failsafe mode".... What the heck , car has 53k ran like a champ until today....Do these things just ...break?

2006 LS

Thought your computer just broke, since I haven't seen you on here in quite some time.

Coil maybe? dunno.

yea, Had a lot going on lately, sorry to have disappeared....So coil problem? really? Hmmmm Any other thoughts?

I have no idea dude, I was just taking a shot in the dark.

actually it acts crazy once in ETC engine failsafe mode... It has only happened once, and when I restarted it "in driveway" it started without the message, I am going to wait till my GF gets home to follow me later to see if it does it again...But come on, thing runs like a kitten , well taken care off, then BOOM i get one of the worst messages on my dash....Hmmmm

yea, i read those, my check engine light doesnt come on tho. And Similar to ones post, My ETC engine fail flashing started right after traction control had to kick in (for ice) Hmmm He said he solved his with new battery. Hmm I dont have the money for this to happen to me right now!!!!!! Got layed off (from a comapny i started) and now starting a new one, alllll my money is tied up ...NOOOOO. LOL oh well hopefully it is something simple.

Unfortunately, no. (Unless you are at less than 50K miles.)
The extended coil warranty is only for 2003, 2004, and 2005.

The #4 coil is a good place to look first. You might try swapping it with coil #1 just to see if that stops the problem. I would also look at the throttle valve and see if it is gunked up in any way. Since it seems to be temperature related, it might actually be a problem with the throttle body.

That sucks man. Both the car and your job! Is it safe to say I won't be installing a indash nav for ya anytime soon? :) And my car is having issues too, maybe it's our car's way of saying they don't want to be driven in the winter? :shifty:

Naw , not unitl Spring for sure... But I am abut to take car out for another test, See if it kicks in to ETC after my traction control kicks in

K, just took car out again, Made it kick in its Anti tracking, Car refused to give me same ETC engine failsafe mode, and ran like a top....Jeeez, Why with LSes is it always so complicated. With my older car, something goes wrong I knwo what it is. with a LS it is a crap shoot

I had that happen on my 03 once, it then turned out to be a coil or two a few months later after it cleared itself with a restart. I wound up just replacing all the coils and plugs.

didn't know it excluded the 06. huh.

I think the cold here just messes with our cars. I had "check advancetrack" this morning on my way to Minneapolis, but its fine now. Actually every morning it says that.. I think one of the ABS sensors is freezing up. I wouldn't worry about it, it was probably just a fluke "cross fingers"

congrats on your 1000th post!

thanks, first off i would like to give big ups to god for making it all possible, it took a lot of hard work and dedication and i couldn't have dont it with out the help of both of my LS's and my Mark. this one was for all the fans.

well then they sure as sh!t better have fixed the problem then

Not from what I have heard. I haven't had any coil problems on my 06 yet (56K miles), but I have heard from others that have.

When I was getting a mis-fire all my coils were firing fine, it was the plugs that were all gay. Take off the coil cover and pull out the coils (5 minutes... seriously not hard) and take a flashlight to the plugs. Rusty? replace em, nice? keep em.

Hey Tyler, did you enlist? Or are you still around?

Yes the wheel speed sensors used for both abs and advancetrac are weather suseptible. I cleaned all the sensors and this has solved the warnings.

They have little rubber grommets on them that are for sealing out water and debris. Overtime stuff works it's way in there and you gotta clean them off. Easy job, just removing wheels is the only thing that takes time.
