I finally replaced my EGR valve the day before Thanksgiving so I could get the car inspected. I took it in for inspection on Nov 30 and it wouldn't pass because the computer has not fully reset itself, although the engine light is no longer on. The guy behind the counter said to drive it 50 miles or so, then come back, but I have already driven it over 100.

Soooo...... how many miles does it need to be driven for the computer to reset?

I know I've seen the answer on the forum several months back, but can't seem to find it now:confused:

^^ maybe that wasn't the best "search phrase" but it is what I used to find the correct Drive Cycles procedure.

http://obdii.com/drivecycleford.html

it mentions using a scan tool and clearing codes...you should be able to skip that step because you're already trying to clear the P-1000 code...
Just follow the steps.. TO THE LETTER.

THANKS guys

I believe I tried every other phrase on google except that one...lol

not to mention the 4+ hours searching this forum:eek:

luckily I still have 14 days to get the inspection and sticker for my tags before I get fined
