not sure what pressure I should be running, the sticker on the door jamb says 30 psi, but I am not sure I agree with this. Any suggestions??

i would think that the sticker on the door jam would be for the stock sized tires, and may change with different sized tires, my tires have a max of 45 and the guys at the tire shop (discount tire) say its best to have 35, and that's what they put in them, i usually up the fronts to 38-40 because @ 35 they look ways too low and the outer part of the tires wear a little faster then the center of the tire

edited for unclear thought

For those that don't know...
The door sticker is the correct answer, no matter what tires you have. It is the pressure the car was designed for that gives the best compromise between handling, comfort, safety, and mileage (not in that particular order.)

You can increase the pressure to the max listed on the tire, and you will get better mileage. However, comfort and safety will suffer. Comfort will suffer because the tires won't give as much when you hit a bump. Safety will suffer for a few reasons. Among them are: The higher pressure will leave less tire footprint on the road, so you will have less stopping force, and less force holding you to the road. The higher pressure will also change the bounce characteristics of the tire so that it no longer matches what the suspension is tuned for. You hit a bump, and the wheel(s) may lose contact with the ground for a longer period of time than they would at the correct pressure.

It is nonsense to say that the pressure on the door applies only to the stock tires. Don't believe me on this, look it up.

Excellent common sense, joegr!

It seems some of the older members here are lacking in it.

is this true for totally different wheel and tire sizes? wouldn't tires of different sizes require different amount of pressure to keep them properly inflated? so even if you have something like a 235/25R20 the pressure should be the same as a 235/45R16(not saying this is the actually size, just a guess)?

I ran 32 up front and 28-ish outback on my 19s so that the rears would wear more evenly due to the camber issues with lowered cars.

Outkast, really??? a troll????

yes...really...you are...

I like how you took the time to photoshop brians name on the license plate of your escort...that must have took alot of common sense.

get a life old timer....shuffleboard is south towards Florida.. :p

Hah wow. This is a :q:q:q:qing pointless thread, as is #1 a pointless member;Nobody likes.

I think he's trying to fill up the LvC server disk space by uploading the same stupid image 1000 times :)

Of course, all bets are off if you change tire sizes. In theory, it is a safety violation to put a tire size on that is not listed as valid on the door sticker. I don't think that any areas check for that though.

OK thanks Joe, i guess i wasn't clear with my thoughts in my original post, I meant OEM size not OEM tire (as in brand)

a little common sense and he could put it in his sig..

I wondered why the f*ck it said attached everytime, and had a line under it like a sig....I didnt think he was that desperate to post that picture in every post....WOW

I have two sets of tires on my truck (summer and winter). Both are identical dimensions and both have different tire pressure than listed in the door. As much as #1 Fan appears he could be trolling a tad (and if he is, the hooks are getting stuck in a lot of mouths), his question is a valid one.

Instead of flopping around in the boat, those of you trapped on the line, just ignore him if you don't "like" him.

Brian, his sig is as valid as the one you're dragging around. Which LS in yours in your sig? oh wait....I forgot.:D

(DUH, just realized it wasn't a sig but an attachment...same difference though).
