So I am having an issue with my vacuum lines that feed from the PCV valve to the upper plenum after the T. My old ones were worn since I bought the car but lately they have collapsed on themselves and it was causing a ruff idle. I could see one was all the way collapsed and the other was almost closed off. I bought some new 3/8" fuel line from Pep Boys (first time EVER in one) cause thats all they had. I know I have seen 90* vacuum line before but didn't feel like shopping around since the line they had made a mild 90* bend without kinking or deforming.
So I cut them to length and put them on and the car idled much more smoothly again. The lines didn't collapse at all and didn't have any kinks. I drove it home (72 miles) and when I got home I checked them cause the idle was a hair rougher. Both of them had softened enough to half way collapse for almost their entire length.
So now what? I am looking for the best option.
1. Should I just cut them in half and put a 90* elbow in hopes that no bends and some bracing from the elbows will keep them open?
2. Anyone know where someplace sells a 90* 3/8 hose?
3. Is this yet another thing where nothing but OEM will do?
