Last night I was heading home, from my high school's game. So I come up behind this tan Chrysler 300C:shifty: . He was driving alittle slower than I was, so I downshifted to 3rd to pass him on a straight away. I passed him , while doing 80. As I continued on, I noticed that he had accelerated and was right behind me. So me, being me-I pulled it back to 3rd and gassed it. This highway contained a few good curves, that I knew quite well:p . So I didn't brake any in these curves that appeared. The LS held it's own in the twisties quite well. The 300c's driver backed off in the curves some, as I kept digging. It was clear he didn't know his car's agility, like I knew mines. Once I topped a hill prior to a long straight, I shifted back to 3rd again with him on my bumper. I knew he was gonna try and pass me. As I hit the straight,I floored it again , and suprisingly I left him. He was about 2 car lengths behind as I hit 110, til I slowed to make my turn home. Once I made my turn, I threw it in second and made sure he heard my Magnaflows, as he passed by. lol.. I'm quite sure that he was surprised how well the LS handled the road. Sure enough I know he would have pulled on me from a stop. How is the acceleration on these cars while cruising. I know that it had the 5.7. I know that our power is up high.I have a air intake and exhaust on my v8. I made sure he got a good view of my tag- LUKNLZN (look n listen).:)

That's cool. The LSs handle great, especially lowered ones like mines.:shifty:

I believe every part except the part about you left him on the straightaway. Thats just not happening IF it was the C...the one with the Hemi.

Been there..tried that. lol

you.d better have outmaneuvered him in the twisties. the ls handles very well.

and i would think i.d stand a chance against a stock 5.7l 300c from a roll. the 6.1 srt8, on the other hand, no contest that would spank an ls in a straight line.

i hope nyc doesnt read this, he might not come back to this site any more hahaha,

the 300c is like driving a tank:D

Yes I actually did leave him on da straightaway. True enough it was a shocker to me too. Hey too bad I don't have any witnesses other than the 300's driver.
Sounds to me like da Hemi, got Hemd up.. lol..

280hp vs a minimum of 345..maybe 359 on a straightaway with both cars pedal to the medal and the LS LEAVES it? Not just keep up..but LEAVES IT?

No. The weight difference isnt THAT great. The driver of the 300c wasnt pedal to the medal

if you say you left him I'll believe you. But I had a Charger (5.7 not sure how much lighter the car is) behind me once on the E-way and we both hit it about the same time. He ran on up my a$$ then hit the other lane and left me. I am stock so maybe that's the difference.

No way in hell an intake and exhaust adds that much. At most it adds about 25hp

Now i.m not saying my car is fast, but its no slouch from a roll. if i drop it into 3rd at 50-55, she starts at about 3200rpms, and hes decent pull. i.d like to run a 5.7 300c and see what happens.

yeah, so have I

any questions on my results?

plus, the new dodge engines aren't "HEMI's"... my 1985 3.2L H6 cylinder heads are more hemispherical

I've also raced a bolt on 300C SRT8 in my OTHER car.... that didn't turn out too pretty for the "HEMI" either, although I will give it credit, it did start finding it's legs due to the baby cam and LT headers with supporting mods... but by 100MPH it was toast, with 3 other people in the car with me lol

Ive run a 5.7 300C with my converter and all and I put maybe 2 cars on him from 0-100, Im calling BS

Also I ran an SRT Charger on the highway with bolt ons and got my a$$ handed to me, I know it had bolt ons because I was leaving a car show and he was in it.. A Zex kit too but I highly doubt he used it..

Sorry if you posted it somewhere, I can't seem to find it but you ran it in a Mark correct?

And exactly what was your other car? Could it have been the Mustang, maybe the GTO?

Pair up another sedan and see what happens. What would you expect from either car against a juggernaut 4 door car!?!!!

You should really elaborate these things first! Im sure someone like yourself understands that HP gains in cars that size dont do much but help pull the weight. You have to get past that point first before you see any significant gain!

I hope he does seeing on how he had more than one true performance vehicle along with something not so performance oriented like his LS. That should set some straight, but I doubt it would sink in anyway. With coments like this, its obvious it dont.

390lb ft of torque, 345hp..vs about 280 and 280.

Ok. Whatever you say. ;)

Drag coefficient of the LS is .27 vs .33 for the 300c.

But all that aside..you REALLY thing a drag difference of .6 at speeds well below 150mph is enough to overcome a torque difference of over 100ft lbs?

really?

Sorry if you all are doubting me, but I must say I had my car in the right gear at the right time.. But hey I was just spreading the news of what happened. I would think some of you would be glad to hear of something like this happen. I know I am. I have no reason nor desire to post false info. Yes I well know the power of the 300 C, hey maybe it was a drivers race. Maybe he didnt floor it, yea right.. :p Sure enough I left him in the twisties, and thats what I loved the most. Thought I was in a bimmer for a second..lol.. without the expensive parts...I'm quite sure even if i had a video some of you would still doubt how i beat the car.. A loss is a loss.. I hope that 300c's driver will think twice about running another ls in the twisties...
