Then why do 6 cylinder cars like the Skyline get held up at customs so they can make sure they pass strict US emissions standards? Why did Mazda tone down the tiny yet bad ass 1.3L rotary to meet US standards in the FD3's?

Japan has LOTS of v8's! They just use them differently then we do. They can fine tune a V6 and drop it in a smaller car to give it loads of power so they use V8s in big cars like Luxury cars where the power is needed most.

As I stated other countries care MORE about fuel emissions and not MANY were sent overseas. I'm not excluding all V8s now am I saying that all V8s are bad for the environment I'm just saying that the popularity of smaller cars/engines are taken on more in foreign countries. Last time I checked Japan and UK weren't chopped full of trucks/SUVs. So Tha'ts why I didn't generalize the populus of V8s, just assuming the reasons why there might not be many.
 
Even back in the 60's and early 70's when most American cars had V8s, Europe was mostly 4 cylinder cars (there were exceptions, of course). I don't think it had anything to do with emissions. I think that it has to do with two factors.
The roads (and therefore cars) are smaller there. (less power needed)
The price of gasoline (due to taxes) is much, much higher there. (gas mileage is a major concern)

Also, all flavors of the LS (domestic and otherwise) had 12V, negative ground electrical systems.

as I stated...not many over there because of emissions or popularity in which includes the fact of people traveling smaller roads plus the guzzle of gas with those gas prices also affect popularity.....so you just helped my statement move along a lil more :P

I disagree.

If gasoline was cheap and insurance and road taxes were cheap, many of us Euro types would be driving V8 behemoths on a daily basis - I know I would.

Once again you know not what you are talking about. The point being is that if these countries cared so much why do we refuse so many vehicles that these countries that care so much about emissions produce? We do it cause they fail our high standards on emissions.

I also think you need to check again on the SUV situation overseas. Again, they have lots of SUVs but most countries like Japan ( which is the topic since we are talking about a Japanese Lincoln ) can base them around a 6 cylinder engine!

It also has nothing at all to do with emissions in the first place like one said. The Japanese period base life on precision and that means it must be small and technical. Everything in Japan is smaller, houses, high rises, offices etc.

and yet you still do'nt hear me...I said emissions or POPULARITY.....and reason why other countries like china can't get their sh*t over here as an auto maker is because they don't pass our crash test requirements. their cars are like glass. You try and summerize my whole discussion only on the basis of emissions. There are many large vehicles that foreign auto makers produce but do'nt sell to their own public. It's all supply and damand not to mention meeting criteria needed for certain countries or states. Same to do with certain cars can not be sold in California!

You make it clear that you haven't been to any of these other countries that you are speculating about. I've spent and a little time in Europe (France in particular) and in China. Trust me, it was clear that their emissions standards are far lower than ours. You'd choke if you put the window down in traffic.

and you too didn't see where I included POPULARITY upon emissions, is POPULARITY really oblivious to you guys are can you all only handle one big work at a time? I mean seriously.....all you guys can rag on are emissions but there are countries and OUR OWN STATES that restrict by the amount of emissions and safety. As I stated too SUPPLY AND F*CKING DEMAND......so popularity is the majority...stop being racist by picking on the minority (the emissions)

Until you began to let this fact sink into your head you never said anything about popularity. We obviously see eye to eye on that point so why would I not look past it?

ahh i see you're trying to use one of my portional statements agains me. In no way did I state that emmissions was the reason why Japan has so few V8 LSs. My statement was to point out a maybe...an assumption...a reaason why some other areas around the world restrict certain cars,trucks,suvs.
