I'm gonna do a J-MOD this coming weekend if weather permits.
I wanted to know which Drill Spec or which drill size did you use
for the valve body separator plate?
What would you prefer for a stock 96 mark8 should i go with
the mild or 300-450 HP range?
I'll contact Max for the accumulators,springs,etc.....

PS i did the search and found very little info for what im looking for
 
The only thing I can say is DON'T drill to a higher hp setting just because you think it will be "better"
 
Also isit necessary to mess around with the
Reverse & OD servo and spring or should leave it alone?......thx

This is just me but if your car goes into reverse quick enough for you now, I would leave it alone and no, it's not necessary to do the OD servo. I would leave that part alone. If you haven't already, make sure to go ahead and get the upgraded 1-2 piston and springs unless you're doing a 98 or newer transmission. One spring is purple and the other is blue and the piston has been upgraded to better specs. Older springs can tend to break and don't leave a spring out for a firmer 2nd gear, you'll be sorry if you do and you'll be wanting to get it back in. Unless you like a neck jerker with every 2nd gear you hit, then use both springs. The J-Mod will give you the 2nd gear you're looking for.
 
I jmoded a 96 trans to the 300-450 specs and love it. I put both springs in 1-2 and left the spring out of 2-3. Didn't do any reverse mods. Call Max and tell him your doing the jmod and he will hook you up, he can pull the parts in his sleep :)

If you haven't already, get a 24k plate type cooler and some good full synth fluid. I used Valvoline but can't remember the part number. Car Quest Auto stocks it.

When you mark your plate to drill take your time and check your marks. Don't lose any ball bearings and watch the little filter.

Sounds like a lot, but it is a really easy mod and you will like it. Firm shifts when putting around and 2nd gear scratch with your foot in it. All from a "luxury sport coupe".
 
Either put (braze) a plug in or buy a new pan if you are going to keep the car, the next fluid change will be cleaner. I drilled mine to let it leak out as I already had the plug kit to install in my old pan. Mercon V is a synthetic made by several oil companies.

Huh! I never really put much thought into it Until you brought it up.

Where do you have the Drain Plug located on the pan?
The reason i ask is because the clearance from the filter and such
 
Well im gonna get ready todo a J-mod tomorrow but im gettin cold feet and the HEBEGEEBEES:eek: ,I've never done this before and i don't want to screw anything up.I've changed fluids,filters,etc...and WALLAH your done,but this one is fuking different.
 
Napa has drain plug kits that work for this purpose for like $6, sometimes a local source is easier...
