How similar are the 3.0 V6 in the LS to the 2002 Ford taurus. I need to drain coolant from the a taurus. Do I need to bleed the system the same way as a 3.0 V6 LS?
thanks

thought the v6 on the ls was the same as the v6 on the mustang...i could be wrong...

The V6 mustangs used the 3.4 I thoughts... >.> Could be wrong. They are similar 3.0's. Unless the taurus is the DOHC they will be different. and there are still a few differences between them but I dont remember what.

The LS V6 is a variation of the Duratech. IIRC, bleeding is very different.

Th 05 stang uses the 4.0 V6. Looks like the 4.6 with 2 cyl removed.

There are two drain plugs on the bottom of the engine if you have the 3.0 V6 Vulcan engine. That is how you drain that engine. It's a pain in the @ss if you ask me, because I have one, and you are better off just going to a garage and paying the 60 bucks to have the radiator flushed. The thermostat takes about 10 minutes to do yourself if the engine is cool, park with the front end going up a slight incline and you will have minimal coolant loss while changing the thermostat.
IMHO have someone else flush the system and just do the thermostat yourself. It is way less of a headache!!!
