what would be the best glue to patch these after cutting them off? a high heat epoxy or just regular plastic expoxy?
im not saying they arent important, but why wouldnt these be included with the aftermarket upgrade aluminum tube then?
i read that page you suggested, and i just understand that the more cold air into the engine the better, if can somehow upgrade this, it would be beneficial for the engine, so why wouldn't making a quicker flow of air not be the best?
because aftermarket designers often overlook important stuff the design engineers add.
If you do not understand what "standing pressure waves" are and what effect they could have on your MAF, and the resulting issues that can/will cause with your car..
your best bet is to ignore those ugly things and concentrate on more "viable and trusted" mods that actually do something other than cause/create more issues.
Do you think those things have ANY effect on the speed of the air traveling thru your intake?
and how does the presence or lack of these devices have any bearing on "colder air" into the engine?
the answers to both the above are "NO".
..sorry
Unless you can show data that shows that you have "pegged" the voltage on the stock maf, there is NO performance gain to changing to a different or larger maf.
"wanting" and "needing" are two different things
you "want" a CAI, but does your car "NEED" one?
you need to datalog your ACT sensor BEFORE making any changes, especially in regards to CAI.
I'd be willing to bet there is a ZERO degree decrease from taking the stock air box and tube out, and putting a CAI kit on that will invariably allow hot engine air to enter the intake manifold.
I had an open element filter on the end of my maf and the ACT temps WENT UP... so I used the data provided, and listened to what my car was telling me and went back to the stock air box and paper filter
The car went faster with the stock box, stock filter than it did with 300.00 of aftermarket JUNK attached to the intake tube.
haha is that where all this hostility is coming from, im sorry you spent 300, but im just tryin to give my car more rwhp and to breath better and i also am going to build a custom heat shield to prevent any engine hot air in getting into the cold air flow
and to breath better and i also am going to build a custom heat shield to prevent any engine hot air in getting into the cold air flow
Yes, and he's just trying to warn you that you will probably be decreasing rwhp, not increasing it. Of course, when you are done you will believe that you have more power, but if you had measured it, you would likely find otherwise.
but also to the people would added a cai to their LS, i dont understand why no one has yet to complained, especially those who got dyno runs
unless this box is 100% sealed from the engine comparment, then you dont actually realize how much vacuum and how much hot air something like this CAN actually pull into an engine.
try to stick with KNOWN mods, not "internet hype mods".
REAL mods, like Gears, tune, exhaust that will actually have some impact on performance.
This intake mod your contemplating has "ZERO gains" writtten all over it.
So, K&N is lying? Check out the '05 T-Bird installation.

but why would people that are very educated in this , choose a cai over stock? for looks or sounds, i doubt it, it has to be a performance gain!
