hey guys i made a post b4 about my LS over Heating and my coolant was leaking the problem seemed to be the coolant reservoir it had a crack and it was leaking so i ordered a new one from ford and now that i have changed the coolant reservoir the needle sits in between the C and the H and after about 30 Mins of Driving it begins to climb higher to the H. Why is it still over heating? WHat Could Be the Problem NOw? Further MOre Its also Feels Like My Engine is Shakng and sounds like its about to cut off when i drive or in reverse. HIt Me BAck

P.S its A 2001 Lincoln Ls with 68,000 Miles

Bleed the system. Sounds like a bubble formed when you changed the bottle.

You cannot bleed the cooling system.
The problem is eather the thermostate or a block in the cooling system.

You should flush the cooling system. Test your thermostate.
For the other problem I would start with diegnostic codes. It could be a vaccume leak, dirty spark plugs, faulty ignition coils, blocked fuel lines or injecctors. The codes will help you narrow down the posibilities. Start there.

wrong. You can bleed the system. And that's most likely his issue.

i am having the same issue. my car started overheating so i had to change the coolant tank. it was cracked. then while in the shop had a tune up done. and i just got it back today and it is still overheating. it used to not overheat at idle but with the ac blowing it will overheat now. the fan still blows but it will start to overheat and the ac will become warm.

when i look under by my driver side i still see ATF leaking. could it jsut be a hose causing air in my system?

What are you seeing leaking? ATF (transmission fluid) or coolant? If it is coolant, then coolant is leaking out and being replaced by air. This would cause overheating.

I would either run the car without a t-stat or replace it (it's cheap) to eliminate it as the issue - it's a common-ish problem.

for the fluid leak - if it's a Gen1 then look at the passenger side for the hydralic fan - the hose coming form the fan to pump can leak. the fluid drips down and runs along other parts - so where is drops on the floor isn't always where it comes from.

thanks quick. my mechanic is checking it out. he thinks its the fan. it spins but he claims its should be blowing harder. i think it runs fine and there is a hose leak somewere. but he doesnt really listen to me. i told him the coolant tank was cracked and it took him a week to diagnose everything before he pulled it and checked it to see i was right.

yep - if there's a pressure leak - it will prevent the fan from getting into 'high'

thanks once again. i was thinking that its a leaky hose and i was kind of scared my fan was going out. but i'll see if we can find the leak and fix the problem.
