Will a 69' 302 BOSS fit in an LS? I know I would have to rip out a lot of stuff but if it fits I think it might be fun...
I think it might be too wide. Not a lot of room between the frame rails in the LS. You would have to make headers that fit VERY close to the block. Oil pan clearance might also be an issue.
A 4.6 would be easier for sure.
A 4.6 what? Because the 4.6 DOHC is considerably wider than the 302 / 351. Heck, it's wider than the current crate 460!
To give people an idea on dimensions, here are some from the current Ford Racing brochure:
4.6 DOHC
Length: 28''
Width: 30''
Height:29 7/8''
Current Crate 302/351W
Length: 27 1/2''
Width: 18 3/4'' (302) 21'' (351W)
Height: 20 3/4'' (302) 23 3/4'' (351W)
I don't know off hand, but here try mine (one I did own). Personally I think you would be further ahead going with a Modular motor because of the ease of adaption as well as the tuneability. Just my 2 cents.
yes it fits, many have done this conversion.............
That would have been sarcasm from 02V8Sport.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the LS that came with the 460 from the factory. I've been trying to get a hold of one but can't seem to get my hands on one. :shifty: I hear the COP's are impossible to change on them due to the engine size.
This 514 looks like a small block in the Mark bay.
