I just called all the dealers in the area to get a seatbelt and they want $500 for each side installed ($1000 total).......$350 for just the part ($700 for both sides)! Safety is a major concern especially considering that my airbag light (not the suspension airbag) is on which means god knows what. I was going to take it to get looked at but I was told that code readers wouldn't tell me why the airbag light is on (which made no sense to me).

Regardless is there any better option of getting a new driver / passenger seat belt? They don't retract anymore and that is pretty important to me.

Which brings me to another safety gripe. For such a high end car why the hell does it not have child seat safety latches? Even my wifes 98 Buick Regal LS has them. You would think a top of the line Lincoln would most definitely have them.

God I love this car, but sometimes I just shake my head in disbelief! Any thoughts? XLRVII back from your time warp yet?

2 star bolts and the belt is out. 2 star bolts and the replacment is in. Most common cause of any aBS light is the clock spring in the steering wheel. I would find a matching color belt in a savage yard, anythin newer that has the right buckle. I can't remember right off hand the star size, it's 50 or 60 something.

Cool but my worry is the tensioner on a salvage belt would be just as worn as the tensioner on mine right? Is there anywhere that sells just the tensioner?

I've done an intensive search and just keep coming up with random universal belts.

I do have plenty of star screws. I bought a whole security star screw setup for the MAF.

The light that is on is for the Airbags not the ABS. What would that be?

By the way I found a salvage car local and will be taking a look at it probably this weekend. If anyone needs anything let me know and I'll question the guy on price unless of course it's a part I'm going to buy. I get first dibs ;)

don't buy one from a mark, buy one from something newer, town car, mustang, van, 150. Just take to old one up and match it. Its a seat belt not a rim :) Its a monster star screw, not a saftey one. Your gonna need a 1/2 drive ateast, something with a long bar.

How would I know if it (the tensioner) fits? I've worked on engines before, and other things. I have not the first clue about the seat belt. That's foreign to me. So how would I know if it will work or not because safety is a huge concern for me.

And I thought $200 for plugs and wires from the dealer was too much

on an OBDII car the code will tell u what is wrong..........

the kid latch things werent mandatory untill 99/00 model year cars i believe...........
