First off, a lil intro. I'm Don and I am addicted to Lincolns. I've got paid for 97 MK VIII and 99 TC and love rollin both of them more than some other much more expensive cars I've own in recent years.

As the title says, it's time for some mods to the MK VIII. Currently she's all stock with slightly leaky bags and 110k on the odo. I bought this one 6 months ago for a pretty nice deal and the engine runs very strong/tight so some power bolt on's are an order. That being said, I think first I'm going to black out the windows and see if I can't get my hands on a Ray Switch (wish I could find something similar for the TC as well :D ). The next big thing on the list will be some new rims...nothing to bling bling tho. No bigger than 18's will make it on this ride. I'm leaning towards some Chrome Cobra R's on this thing...anyone care to post pics of some MK's with R's or perhaps something else that might look proper on this? What is the proper bolt pattern/offset to keep things where I can set it in the ground with no interference?

What would be the best order of engine bolt on's to add without going to full on power adder?

So far this seems to be a great forum. Thanks in advance all!

Use the search feature on this site....it will add power to your posts....and frogs won't rain on your parade!!!!!

I went with a cobra intake manifold, cold air, under drive pullies, LMS MAF housing, J mods and exhaust (3rd cat removed replaced with x pipe and flowmasters)

Smoking, inhaling, shooting up or snorting Lincolns is bad for you. You should seek some professional adivce in regards to your addiction.

Rolling a vehicle can lead to body damage. Not advised.

As the title says, it's time for some mods to the MK VIII.

Oh. That's what that meant.

Currently she's all stock with slightly leaky bags and 110k on the odo.

Yeah.. They tend to do that after 12 years. Time to replace them.

I bought this one 6 months ago for a pretty nice deal and the engine runs very strong/tight so some power bolt on's are an order.

Bolt on: Lefty loosy, righty tighty.

That being said, I think first I'm going to black out the windows

Why? Don't you need them so see out of? If they are blacked out, you'll be blind.

see if I can't get my hands on a Ray Switch (wish I could find something similar for the TC as well :D ).

Unfortunately, Ray isn't making those switches anymore. But someone else on the forum is making them. Look at the stickies.

The next big thing on the list will be some new rims...nothing to bling bling tho. No bigger than 18's will make it on this ride.

Smart thinking. Anything over 18 is ridiculous on the Mark VIII. This, I'm sure can be debated, but eh.

I'm leaning towards some Chrome Cobra R's on this thing...anyone care to post pics of some MK's with R's or perhaps something else that might look proper on this?

Lots of wheel picture threads here. Look around.

What is the proper bolt pattern/offset to keep things where I can set it in the ground with no interference?

Huh? Set what in the ground? As far as the bolt pattern. covered... over and over... look around.

What would be the best order of engine bolt on's to add without going to full on power adder?

Search. Covered many times in the past.

So far this seems to be a great forum. Thanks in advance all!

Don

It is a great forum. Yes, I'm a jerk, but usually help people out if they are motivated to help themselves first.

You're welcome.

Duh

Rolling a vehicle can lead to body damage. Not advised.

Oh. That's what that meant.

sigh.

Yeah.. They tend to do that after 12 years. Time to replace them.

plannin on it...didn't ask, just a statement.

Bolt on: Lefty loosy, righty tighty.

Wow, you sure are a sharp tool...well a tool anyway.

Why? Don't you need them so see out of? If they are blacked out, you'll be blind.

I'll just feel my way down the road.

Unfortunately, Ray isn't making those switches anymore. But someone else on the forum is making them. Look at the stickies.

I know, didn't ask, just another statement.

Smart thinking. Anything over 18 is ridiculous on the Mark VIII. This, I'm sure can be debated, but eh.

Finally something halfway intelligent.

Lots of wheel picture threads here. Look around.

Been lookin around...apparently don't have quite as much time to actually live on the board like yourself...that and I was looking for actual opinions based on my specific MK VIII...with the added info that it will be lowered, the color it is, the darkened windows, etc.

Huh? Set what in the ground? As far as the bolt pattern. covered... over and over... look around.

You are right, I should not have asked bolt pattern.

Search. Covered many times in the past.

You're welcome.

You guys are the best man...everyone is so ready to post a "search is your friend" remark, that you miss the point of posts completely at times and not only make yourselves look like total tools, you make peeps want to have nothing to do with the board. Fortunately I can take sarcasm as well as dish it out and can be us much of an internet tough guy as the rest of ya.

Ok.. Who's making popcorn for this one?

You guys are the best man...

Well... yeah. We kind of are the best Lincoln related forum around. I mean, there are others. Like the one owned by a guy who doesn't even own a Mark VIII anymore, and the other one where you're so moderated, you can't even fart without getting some sort of a reprimand. So... take your pick.

everyone is so ready to post a "search is your friend" remark

Obviously, you're either too incompetent or too lazy to search.

Do you think you're the first n00b with the same Mark VIII questions as yours? That's kind of narcissistic of you, don't you think? Some get tired of answering the same questions over and over, only to have the n00b leave after they have their answer, and return for more spoon feeding when they have more questions.

This is not the KGB (the texting service), this is a community of people that help out other fellow car owners, and in turn get help when they need it. In the mean time, they do post about other stuff here, besides cars. I guess they don't have a life either, right? After all, why should they spend more than the necessary time to read the answers to their questions here, and leave after they've been spoonfed info they're looking for? I mean, that's just crazy, man!

that you miss the point of posts completely at times and not only make yourselves look like total tools

Hey. Welcome to the tool club. You... DID sign up here of your own free will, yes? And why is it that when someone doesn't jump at your demands for answers, they are labeled as tools? Hmmm? Wouldn't it be easier to... I don't know... Look around for a bit? Do you go into a grocery store, walk up to an employee, and demand they get you all the items you've written down on a piece of paper?

I guess my point is, feed a man for a day, then he'll starve again. Teach him how to fish, and he'll feed himself. Same principal applies here. Fish around for the information, and you won't have to be spoonfed... over and over.

you make peeps want to have nothing to do with the board.

Peeps are bad for you. too much sugar in those damned things. Make you all fat, and then your Mark won't be as quick.

Fortunately I can take sarcasm as well as dish it out and can be us much of an internet tough guy as the rest of ya.

So far, you're not taking it too well. We'll see.

As far as being an internet tough guy? There is a fine line between that and being a smart ass. But since you called yourself one I knew I saw you somewhere before! This is you, isn't it?

Plenty of lolz in that response...hats off to ya.

I did sign up at my own will...and will remain here for a good while. I am active on plenty of forums that relate to my interests...this one will be no different. The tool remark was merely due to your immediate assumption that I am a troll looking for a short answer so I can disappear. I was actually looking for intelligent opinions...not making demands. That should be obvious by the first post...it wasn't a typical "what bolt on is best" one liner or "show me your wheels yo"...it was an intruduction, a lil background, and a semi layed out plan of action with a request for opinions. :D

I'm sorry my trying to be part of this great "community of people" you mentioned as opposed to "some dude who uses the forum as a simple library" didn't sit well with you...but I guess not everyone can be open minded and willing to accept new folks into their club ;) Here's an analogy for ya...let's say you moved to a new neighborhood with all kind of community ammenities...and in a whole new town that you are unfamiliar with. Now, according to your logic, you would not introduce yourself to your new neighbors and ask what all ammenities they use/like, where's the best local place to eat, best hangout, local car show locations, etc? Sure you would/could use the yellow pages, internet, etc, but why not spark up a convo that might offer personal responses/opinions and new acquaintances/friendships in the mean while. Well I'm sorry but I like some personal interaction with those around me who possibly have similar interests to myself. :D

Popcorn is bad for your muscles...and Mr. Biceps is not me...he's just a synthol junkie.

I do my best to entertain. But since I don't charge for my off-beat brand of humor, I can't always be funny.

I did sign up at my own will...and will remain here for a good while.

Good. Otherwise, we'd have to send the LvC mobsters after you.

I am active on plenty of forums that relate to my interests...this one will be no different.

Let us hope so. See above.

The tool remark was merely due to your immediate assumption that I am a troll looking for a short answer so I can disappear.

Big difference between a troll and an unmotivated n00b. I wasn't calling you a troll. Let's hope I don't have to call you the latter, either. Wouldn't be nice.

I was actually looking for intelligent opinions...not making demands.

Intelligent opinions? Here?... I mean.. This is a good place for those. Seriously.

~loads up and hides in waiting for the LvC mob squad, for the "intelligent" comment~

Perhaps in not so many words, but unfortunately, this is how it came across.

I'm sorry my trying to be part of this great "community of people" you mentioned as opposed to "some dude who uses the forum as a simple library" didn't sit well with you...but I guess not everyone can be open minded and willing to accept new folks into their club

Perhaps I typed something while I was visiting my great grandmother on pluto, via an out of body experience... Where did I say that "we" don't want you to be a part of this community? Hell, were did I say that?

And no. I don't play well with others, and I don't like sharing my toys. Anyone who knows me in real life from here will tell you that. But I do try to make exceptions.

;) Here's an analogy for ya...let's say you moved to a new neighborhood with all kind of community ammenities...

My closest neighbor is about 1.5 miles away. There is a reason I live in a remote area, and it's not because I get all warm and fuzzy about neighbors.

Actually... You're wrong. I'm the adventurous explorer type. I don't usually rely on the locals to recommend restaurants, (ESPECIALLY restaurants... foxpaws? - long story), amenities, hang-outs, and the like. I'd rather find them on my own. Much more fun that way. It's even easier when all the members in your "party" are over 21... Tdub?

As far as personal interactions... Eh. This is the internet. While you may make a real life friend or two off the internet, it's not worth putting too much effort into internet based "relations".

Either way. Use the search feature. It works about as well as my nuclear fission generator in the basement, but... it does work.

Well, I'm glad all of that is settled.

I'm Don and it's good meeting you Mr. Frogperson, and I'm sorry I came off as a troll like lazy ace noobie retard. On a side note, I imagine all community type neighborhoods are glad you live remote ;) It does take all types to make the world go round tho. :D

AAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

That is all...

Returning to normally scheduled programming... :D

Frogman aint a tr0ll
he's the n00bie welcome wagon.

he provides a much valued service to LVC by weeding out the wussies from the real men in a very short time

It doesnt take bout abot 3 posts on LVC to figure out if you "fit in".

Welcome aboard.

P.S. "I" am the resident tr0ll

Thanks XLR, every board needs their frogman...I just got lucky by meeting this one within 9 minutes of my first post. :D

I've done plenty of lurking prior to joining up and noticed there are a good group of knowledgable guys hanging out here...which prompted me to join and make my controversial first post :Bang

That is about the average time for a first strike for frogman...some might thing it's slow, but frogmen dont swim very fast with all their gear on.

he usually starts off with the light weaponry such as the babyfood spoon which CAN be lethal at distances inside a few yards.

If you get whacked with the babyfood spoon, be very careful..that means he's very very close.

Frogman got close enough to TOUCH kustomizingkid, then using his superior brainpower or some new CIA tool he removed all memory of himself from KK's mind.

KK said it also hurt to sit down after than fateful day so he may have been probed to some extent or another.

The "first" bolt on isn't really a bolt on...it's more of a PLUG IN.

Get a proper tune for the car.

there isn't a better bang for the buck spent mod you can get.

Plus if you "get the whole package" you can adjust your tune later as you install more mods to you car.

The SCT tuning software and a flash device or chip is the first thing you should consider.

the flash package is cheaper than the chip package due to different and more hardware required to "burn your own chip".

You could get a flash device preloaded from one of the many vendors around here for just under 400.00
9 times out of 10 the preloaded tune works fine for 90% of the people out there.
the 10% like myself needed the ability to "tweak" things as I further modded my car.
That option cost another 300.00.. BUT you dont have to get them both at the same time.

get a flash device with a tune first.
then.. if you feel the need to change it at a later date.. get the software.
*sorry for the novel*

I live in Arlington, TX...but my machine shop is located in San Antonio which I frequently visit.

I was leaning towards doing the SCT flash tuner and modding the exhaust first along with a gear change in the rear end.

oh howdy neighbor

bring that thing to houston, I'll flash my car back to stock then stick my tune on your car and you can "test drive it".

that's all it'll take and you'll be hooked.

it'll only take a couple of hours for you to get here.
HURRY!
haha

Tempting...but right now business has me working too much to make any trips. Better to be busy than to be in the same boat as so many other companies out there tho. Guess I could make it a business trip and do some reppin while I'm down there...I know I have a descent customer base down there anyway so hmmmm :D

arlington, tx huh...that's about as close to non existent arlen as you can get...can you change your user name to hank hill? and for performance mods, switch to propane injection.
