Navy Seals 1, Somali Pirates 0

My 4 year old kid brought in a Navy Special Warfare SEAL Badge when he saw the emblem on my TV monitor couple of minutes ago.

I said where did you get this? From mommy! Looks like mommy went swimming one day in the distant past.

Anyway, score one for the Seals.
 
I remember earlier in the day when they didn't release the details of how they got him yet and they said 3 were dead. The first thing I had in mind was snipers.
 
Excellent Job Navy Seals!!! My friend and I were just talking this morning about when the seals were going to drop the bad guys.

Was just wondering what the Brits would have done in the same situation. Probably would have just 'rolled over' and negotiated - that's about what I have come to expect from the modern 'oh sooo P.C.' pussy Brit government scum.
 
On fox i thought it was saying that the owner had paid them off? Maybe there are some different instances.

When the ships got jacked 2 years ago (or, whatever it is now) did it get this much attention?

At first I was disappointed that one of the pirates is still alive. After thinking about it I realized that it may be good that one of them is now in custody. Hopefully, after some interrogation (torture, abuse, or whatever is necessary), he will willingly provide detailed info about their organization and where the other hostages are.
 
He was on the ship negotiating at the time. So am sure he was quite happy to be 'on deck' of the U.S. vessel. Otherwise, he'd be floating fish food like the others.

It's time to take the gloves off!!
The pirates have said that they will retaliate for any actions taken against them during and after their acts of piracy.
It's time that the ship owners took action to deter hijacking before it happens.
The sooner the shipping companies start to protect the crew of their ships and take action to guarantee delivery of goods, the sooner these acts of piracy will end.
All crew members should be provided with arms and an armed security force should be onboard every ship traveling in these perilous waters.
Any person trying to illegally board the ship should be shot dead while trying to do so.
Capturing pirates should only happen when killing isn't possible.
Any unauthorized boat or ship approaching should be blown out of the water.
Pirates don't follow any rules of the sea and should be handled in the same manner.
These pirates have been hijacking ships with the knowledge that they will meet little or no resistance when attempting to board a ship. This needs to change.
DEATH TO THE PIRATES!!

Now let me get this straight,,as this unfolded in the heat of the situation,,ZeroBama was on the Captain's phone saying "TRADE YOURSELF FOR YOUR MEN" Then the Captain calls out,,My Prersident who I just happened to be on the phone with as you giuys took my men,,wants me to trade myself for my men!! GIMME A BREAK!!!
 
Kudos to the seals and to President Obama for acting quickly and giving the order.Woof I hear what your saying !,but I dont think too many Nations want armed ships with security forces coming into their ports..the trojan horse and all that.So for now I think we are stuck picking these dirtbags off 1by1
 
Considering the pirating ha been going on since late last year...I'm suprised it took the US military soo damn long to respond.....
 
The US military stayed out of the action until one of our ships was attacked.
While I agree that other nations probably wouldn't like the idea of all these armed ships coming into port, I believe that the only way to stop the hijackings is to prevent them from happening in the first place. If anyone has any better ideas, I'm all ears.......

As if the US military needs that goof ball's help to conduct an operation! I'm sure the (experienced) high ranking US military officials can make these kinds of decisions themselves.

Problem is, many shipping lines can't afford to higher security, as it would kill their profit margin. So they gamble that they won't get hit or not get hit enough to warrant the cost of protection.

There's also the mindset that armed personal aboard would cause the pirates to harm/kill the crew, if they're not able to repel the attack, instead of just the usual looting and/or taking the captain for ransom.

Probably correct, sad really, as the SAS is highly capable of handling such situations.
