Just a note.........

Anyone thinking about the new ford replacement kit for their HID's......for $1200.00 they are backordered til end of MAY and I sold my last 2 sets yesterday. Ill keep you posted.

Max

Holy :q:q:q:q! That's like double what they were when they came out. And considerably more then I paid for my set.

No offense max I know your not setting the price but come on. I was cringed at spending $700 on them and now the economy tanks and they go up to $1200. Thanks Ford.

Correct me if im wrong but i believe $1200 includes both hallogen housings and bulbs (new for fix for having no HID bulbs available). So its just under half of what it would have costed you 2 years ago for new housings and bulbs. Gen 2 only of course.

correct K9T8M on the contents except you also get the new SIL module.

Things like this is why I will never buy a Ford again. Ouch. Make a crappy product and then dont make a logical solution, find a way to rape and pillage some more.

They could have just made new HIDs with a proper base.

Reason I had second thoughts about getting my Mark... :shifty:

Yes halogen two new housings with all bulbs harness connections and a SIL. I bought this kit from Max last year for considerably less. I had reservations because of cost then. Decided to bite the bullet because my original housings were all faded and after hours of compounding would not come up. For $1200 I would not be buying this kit. $250 for mafioso's kit sand and clear the existing housings and thats it.

I hate to take a sale away from Max but $1200 is insane for the relatively simple(buy todays standards) headlight housings and a SIL which you don't need.

I hope you arent into GM, their stuff is even bigger junk than Ford. At least they are taking steps in the right direction.

Actually a Porsche Boxster is still at the top of my list. Just not a good winter car. If I get one then the Mark will officially be deemed a winter beater.

So far my Mark has got to be one of the worst cars I ever had during the winter :(

My 65' birds sux in the winter - back in the day when I drove my Coupe as an everyday car I even had 3" wide whitewall snow tires and the car could not get up my 3 degrees of slope driveway. No granted they are bias-ply tires that are only 4" wide but still it sucked big time.

Best car was the '78 Town car nothing ever stopped that beast!

My best winter cars where my M725 1 1/4 ton Ambulance but that was a truck so the best car was my AWD SVX!

Even with M/S tires on my Mark the thing wont stay on the road or even get out of a parking spot if there was snow on the ground when I parked there

The Mark is not he best, but not bad. Well, until I compare it to my 88 VW fox with those bicycle tires. Cuts through anything!

I had a 1981 Cadillac Eldorado that was Horrific in the snow and I don't car who claims FWD's a great in snow!

Then again I had a 86' CRX Si that was awesome in snow so go figure

good in snow=98 TJ Sport, 33x12.5 with BFG all-terrain T/A's, 2002 Olds Aurora (traction that actually works).

worst (many ties)-

any one of Camaro's, Z/28's, T/A's/Firebirds, 3 GTO's (67, 70, 74), 68 Buick GS400, Opel GT, Mercury Capri 2.3, 66 Grand Prix w/421 and a 400 turbo trans, 67 OHC 6 Sprint Tempest...and, add the Mark to that list, all are parked in Winter.

I need to move south:cool:

My Vic is useless in the snow...

My Vic wasn't good but it's was better then my Mark. The Mark goes a little better with the trac lok now. The LS is better then the Mark though. We usually take my girlfriends Dodge Ram in the snow but the lease is up this summer. We are waiting for a guy to get a replacement title for a CJ7 to replace it. My old CJ was the best car I had in the snow.

Move to Alabama and you'll never see snow again. Flakes might fall every year or two but it never sticks. If we just so happen to get 2" of snow, our entire city just shuts down. This was years ago though. Thanks for the info, now I know to never drive up North.
