Well yesterday, my fiancee was driving the mark viii home from work on feeder road(frontage road) and some van tried to switch lanes quickly in front of her. She swerved to avoid the collision but lost control and hopped the curb, went across about 15-20ft of muddy grass and finally hit the wall on the drivers side of the car.

She is ok, she hit her head on the side window but shes doing good. Thank God.

The car has 2(drivers side) flat tires. The drivers side from the fender to just behind the door is scraped up pretty good. Other than that, i didnt see any damage.. I hope they dont total it, i love the car soo much.

But i will get some pictures soon i hope. The car has like 64000 miles, i dont know what that makes it worth but i hope they dont total it!

Thank God she's alright-recently someone else on here had a collision and the photos had elicited opinions that it would be totaled, but they fixed it (I do not remember who it was, but they posted photos of before and after and did an amazing job). Because you have a 98 with really low miles, I would think the insurance co might have a hard time justifying totaling it out unless there is significant unseen damage. Hope the rest of this turns out alright, but no matter what, she's ok and that's what really matters.

If they total it just buy it back and fix it. Thats if there isn't anything to serious that you don't see.

I had a 97' SVX that a Deer tried to jump over while I was in traffic. Went threw the windshield rolled up the roof and even dented my sunroof

This was in 2000 with around 50k on it and if it came up to 10G to repair they where gonna total it. Luckily it was 8G to fix and the dealer gave me 10 on it for trade in on my WRX :D

Thanks for the support guys.

What do you think the car is worth? it was in about mint condition before and had 64K?

yeah, ill try to get over to the body shop to get some pictures. I think the adjuster will be out early this week sometime

Sorry to hear about your ride.

With that said...

my friends 97 with low miles was totaled and he bought it back from the insurance company for 550.00, he then got a check for 5200.00 from the insurance company.

Think about it this way, your fiance' might have just secured the funds for the blower!
w00t

again, sorry to hear about your ride.

Good to hear the woman thing (oh, I'm gonna get it from the women on the site...) is fine. :D

If you need a fender, you let me know I'll pull it off my parts car, and mail it to you. No charge. Well... you'll pay shipping.

First glad that she's OK that's what is important ... Good thing she's in a Mark VIII for that. Car is a strong car and a safe car to be in when these bad things happen just ask Scott9050.

Anyway .. oh I see you are trying to get Debi ;) all excited Frogman ;) ;) :shifty: :D

hmmm i guess the insurance company said it was a total loss. I am gonna call the guy and see if i can buy it back and for how much.. I know the door and fender need to be replaced, drivers mirror and some paint. we will try to get her all fixed up. oh and i need 2 tires!

I figured it would be a total....

If you bought it back I don't doubt you could fix it... This car is in Dallas at Awesome Auto Salvage... Door and fender were good from wha tI could remember...

I am gonna call the guy and see if i can buy it back and for how much..

In Texas, Generally the salvage buy back is 10% of the total value
So if they total it and offer you 5K you buy it back for 500.00.
They will deduct that amount from the payout, and cut you a check for the difference.

You should be looking at between 5500-6500 total value.
DO NOT ACCEPT ANY LESS.
Of course they will deduct your "deductible" from the payoff total as well.

So depending on how you set up your policy witha high deductible/low payments or a low deductible/high payments will greatly affect how all this goes down.

be prepared for a bad experience, slow pay, fight you every step of the way.
And hopefully you'll be pleased when it wasn't as bad as you were prepared for.

To get your money back out of that car you NEED to get it back... also don't accept their first offer for the car....
