the car Im looking at buying the owner says it sags in the front over night and then comes up to normal height when you start it, is this right? or is there something messed up like the airbags are leaking? need info on this before I make offer

the airbags are leaking so you will need to replace the front bags which will cost about $500 or you can convert to coils

yes and no. if you have a leaky air bag it will. :D otherwise not likely but could it be compressor or lines?

how much for coil springs parts and labor? can I keep driving on it untill I really need them? trying to see IF i buy the car if I can run it as is for a year or so untill I save money for the fix.

True might not be a bag(s).

If you leave it the way it is the compressor is working harder and you are introducing moisture into the system. This will cause problems in the rest of the system over time.

IIRC spring conversions are around $400 in parts. I would go with American Air suspension.

a year?
no

I week yes.. month no.

If you "wait" more damage to the system occurs.
if you find, and resolve the leak now.. you may not have any more problems with it.

If you are the type to procrastinate on repairs then the mark 8 is not for you.
Small issues, left unattended get VERY expensive very quick.

Drop 650 off your offering price for replacement bags and compressor.

Plus the 1700-2K off for the trans shudder..
you've knocked the price down on that car quite abit and into a more realistic offer.

his firm price is $3800 as is..
tough call the car is mint other than the shutter and sagging front end overnight, he said he dropped 1500 into repair of the air system 2.5 years ago,how can it go bad again?

so whats his explanation of the sag then? there is no other so.....drop the price down or know what ur getting into.

So, now he wants $3800 FIRM for a 12 year old, 92,000 mile car with a shuddering tranny and leaking air ride?

Forget it. Move on.

he's a joke...he's just trying to make his money back at this point...I bet 2.5 years ago he bought it with the air ride system not working for $2500 plus Coils and Plug Wires and now he's just trying to make his money back

agree'd.. move on find another car.

That guy is nuts.

dont let his "better poker face" make you buy something for more money than it's worth.

he obviously things your a "easy sell" otherwise he'd be willing to negotiate

Run very fast from that car and seller

The sad part is someone will give him what he wants.
They wont know better.
When everything is fixed it will be a $7800 car.
I could buy two for that price.

I made my offer let's see if he take it, he not desperate to sell that is for sure. Dont know why even with all the potential issues I still want the car. Im telling you it is mint garage kept, all records, spotless seats, carpet etc. kenwood system tints, remote starter, hardwired radar, ipod hookup, new tires etc etc..

is there a cheaper way to fix the leaky struts up front? like from the bone yard? instead of $389 for new ones. should I do the $289 coil spring up front set up? just figuring out my options.

If you want to enjoy another 10ish years out of your air ride without problems put OEM Ford bags in.... if you want to scrape buy put in Arnott or used OEM bags in, if you want to compromise the ride put coils in....

you could try a used bag.......my junkyard bag is still good. im not saying i would actually buy one, bui i had one of those "left over parts" for a year, i just filled it up and let it sit there. well a couple years later when that bag started to leak on my car the solution was obvious!

I cleaned and dressed my spare bags really really well with Meguirs #40.... I did the same with all the bags on the car, I hope it will make them last as long as possible...

if you really really like the car it is worth what you are willing to pay
and if you plan on keeping the car it might be worth it to have the one you fell in love with
