Sorry about the car man. Hopefully you can turn it into something positive. If they total it you may have the buy back option and make a buck by selling the parts. You may want to pull any non essential valuables off it before some one else helps themselves to them. Collision yards can be a very vicious place.

then i'd like to call one of those four little screws that hold that long piece of black plastic with some warning stickers on it. its just above the radiator. i took the plastic screws off to see what was underneath, and lost one somewhere near the windshield fluid bottle.
 
if there is any bend to the shock tower or engine bay inner wall - it's gone.

Thanks. I didn't really look inside the wheel well but the arm was snapped behind the wheel and the shock was pulled out to the side.
 
off topic kind of...... My buddy just crashed his 01 accord. Statefarm said the car was worth 10,000, 2001 with 120k,yeah right. Kbb was 7000 tops, collision comp fixed it for 6300, 1300 below the price to total it. If u get that same adjuster your car might be worth 15k.
 
If the KBB value for your car is around $7K then i would say its most likely a total. Besides the body work, repairing that front end is going to be expensive, not to mention if the wheel was damaged. I'd have to say the one thing that would have sealed the deal would have been if the airbag(s) went off, very expensive to replace those. Its always my opinion that with damage like that the car will never be the same. The LS seems finicky already, who know what else besides the obvious was affected. Take it to the dealership and i'd hope for a total if i where you.
 
Well I'm calling the insurance agent tomorrow to get it appraised, they need my statement before they do anything. So the common idea is to bring it to the dealership correct?

I'd say go the dealership route regardless of what the insurance company decides. If by chance it isnt totalled then you can have some kind of assurance that it'll be repaired correctly using oem parts and factory trained techs. Depending on how common the LS is in your area it could be the first time an independant shop ever laid hands on a LS, you never know.
 
I dont know all agencies really work differently. I dont think anyone is correct to give 100% advice. Last time I had to deal with this with a different vehicle they had the car towed to one of 3-4 places in their approval. After that the place looks it over and gives the estimate. The agency then decides on whether or not the parts being replaced are factory or not. Any that are not are a judgment part. They then get the estimate, tell the shop what work gets done cut the check out send it to you and you pick up the car after cashing the check and any deductible is covered by you at that time.


And what ever you do dont let anyone tell you to boss the agency around. IT WILL NOT WORK THAT WAY!
 
I got in 2 accidents in little over a year. The first one(white) was the worst cost little over 9500 and the black one was little over 5000. Hopefully they fix yours (if thats what you want) But the damage looks pretty costly. Good luck.

If you can, you should also pursue the people that caused the accident.
 
well that sucks, if it were me I would be hoping for total. When I had a truck drive over mine I hoped for it but it was fixed BUT damn, it came out better than before the crash, thank goodness for my dad doing the work at his shop, am sure it would of been crappy at another plus the shop made sure I got the best parts from the manufacturer and not aftermarket, gotta love them perks of having family doing that type of work.
 
Yeah, if it does wind up being fixed I'm going to try to make sure there's an entire new paint job so I know it all matches. No pin stripe either.
 
think that regulator is still any good on the passenger side?? Im in need of it..:p

If they just repair it you can always pull yours out, sell it to me and Ill ship you my damaged one hehe!

That'll buff right out...

Id hope for a total if I were you. Suspension damage like that is usually contained to just the suspension, but it puts a lot of stress on the rest of the steering parts when damage like that occurs. Although there's probably no frame damage, I think you would still be looking at complications from this further down the road.
 
well, first off I was gonna mention the white balance issue, but i apparently you got that figured out.

second, glad you're ok, because if that was my car....i'd prroooooobbably be in jail right now!
