Wont start again

maybe your hearing the jet pump only...pull your back seat and the access plug to get a closer look....hmmm...it ran for a minute? almost sounds as if the new filter just clogged too...

it obviously had pressure if it ran for a minute....

IIRC the jet pump basically cant go wrong.

I didnt even bother seeing if it would spray. I actually forgot to even check and I had the battery disconnected all night again. So, anything that came out came out of the filter. I attempted to catch what fuel was in the filter to see if it would come out the other end and well it didnt so that tells me something about the filter so far.

right- the 'jet pump' is nothing but a pickup and hoses - no actual pump.

The engine will run with extremely low fuel pressure - although not very good for it. I have split the hose between the fuel pump and the lines running out of the tank before - and the car was able to 'limp' around...

Hmmm Im wondering about my fuel cap?

Thats what I cant understand, if it was anything like a fouled injector blah blah blah it would at least start but run like dog do.

Oh some fuel did run out of the hose that leads from the fuel rail or what ever to the out on the filter.

You can try swaping relays to see if it gets your pump going.
No pressure at the rail means bad pump.
It should spray like crazy at the schrader valve.

Well its running!

:drunk:

I know it was the filter. I could blow on it and almost pass out cause no air would pass.

I decided maybe I am low on battery power or something. I was about to go to a junkyard and get a new filler cap but I decided it wouldn't hurt to hook up some cables quick and see what happens and presto! Apparently all the no starts ironically drained it enough to where it was about to die. I feel the pump shouldn't do this so I am ordering a new one cause it has got to be on its way out soon.

Thank you everyone!

If I could I would buy everyone that replied a 6er!

the fuel cap will not cause enough pressure loss to prevent the pump from pushing fuel.

If you open the lid of the gas tank - you should be able to clearly tell if the pump is working.....

Glad its going.
I would still check pressure at rail if you think your pump is weak.

Im going to do that then. Right now Im just relieved. I kinda dont wanna touch the damn thing in fears of jinxing myself.

I might take it in and pay just to have it looked over before I get stuck with it again.

That's got to feel pretty good. I hate it when stuff like that happens.

Its easy to do.
I have a gage with a long hose....I run it up so the hood will latch, that way you can check pressure while driving it.

That way if you bring it in you are armed with info.
I have xx pressure at idle and xx pressure under power.
You will have less of a chance of getting screwed by a garage if they think you know what your doing.
I bought a gage a while back, I have used it more then I thought I would.

Thanks, as you can see when something isnt working it drives me nuts!

Ford nut, Im doin exactly that! I hate when they attempt to push you around and all you can do is give the benefit of the doubt even though you know they are BSing you!

g;ad its running

it sounds like the filter may have come apart inside and completely blocked the flow. you are probably done as long as nothing made its way up to the motor. you could remove the rails and blow them out to be sure, along with the tube leading from the filter up to the motor. this will save the injectors from potential contamination. if you throw codes later, you may have to suspect a blocked injector along with the usual bad coil.
did you take it to the dealer? i hope not. just check your fuel pressure like we talked about about. if it is 30/40 idle/full throttle, you are fine. your pump probably blew that fuse by attempting to draw enough current to flow past the blockage. don't let the dealer take you for a ride.

isnt that little cap in a bad spot? :D i've almost dropped mine about 10 times.
if you took it to the dealer, what did they say?

I did it all myself.

Im gunna bite the bullet and take it in and have it looked at. I want to know what this taping sound has been anyway. Plus Im about do for a service/check up. I dont mind those type of things as long as I dont get BSd around with the you need this and that crap. As long as they are honest and it keeps my car in shape for another 50-80K Im cool with dealing with it.

The tapping sound I mentioned in a previous thread has gotten a bit worst. I can now localize it to the intake man. for sure.

im sure its fine. you can test injectors by putting a wooden dowell on them and listening to the other end. they should tick every other stroke. only other thing that can tick might be the tensioner or something similar. the ac compressor will also tick with the AC on or the front defogger.

Ehh, like I said I need the check up in general. I went for the 60K mile and they said just about everything was fine so its worth it to me at this point. Im sure I got somethings that should be replaced.

The ticking is just irritating, as I said before it sounds like a old Volvo when teh hood is up.
