I was reading up on that puppy and with 415HP and 400Ft pounds of torque it looks like it's gonna be a very interesting engine. Direct injection and set to run on E85, of course that does me no good as it's not available in NJ

Wont be to long before they show up wrecked in the yards and I don't see them being as popular as the Mustangs for people to buy and strip.

Just a thought, anybody else been scoping these things out yet?

it does sound good, and of course being turbo it can easily be turned up!!
throw in a 6 speed and woohoo

Maybe when there's a bit of aftermarket available for the motors... It took 10 years for the modular to be even somewhat comparable to the SBF, it's gonna take some time for the "Ecoboost.*"

*Ecoboost is the GAYEST name I've ever heard for an engine. I'm calling a general fail on Ford for this one.

+1 on that!

Mind, GM weren't much better with their 'Ecotec' engine line.

'Tis a stark contrast to all those cool engine names of days gone by like Cobra Jet, 440 - Six Pack, 455 Super Duty, HEMI, Rocket etc.

$$ permitting, I'll take a TT V8 over a V6 any day. Just hate the way V6's sound.

Wasn't it a 421 Super Duty and the 455 was a GS or GSX

Anyway since there is not going to be a twin turbo V8 I will take a TT V6 any day of the week. Stock the thing is 400HP and the main problem is going to be the vehicle it is in. Not many people are going to be looking at a Lincoln to hot rod but if the engine can hold up to some decent boost it will take off.

On the V8 note I am just now watching Pass Time from tonights episode and a guy brought his built engine 06' Mustang convertible with a Precision Turbo running 15 pounds of boost. He pulled a 12.78@113 that is so unimpressive I can't begin to tell you

not watching it now, but it seems that happens alot. most cant drive, enter the driver mod

(guess i should have said Super Duty 455, not the other way around) - Lol.

TT's on our 'Mod' V8's are possible anyway. Given enough coin, I'd rather build and improve on what I have - plenty of 'tried and true' support for the 'Mod' motor.

What will the Ecoboost in the Lincoln be rated at? I thought the figure was said to be around 340 HP, not 400?

Me and Tommy were talking last night about doing an SVO turbo 4 cylinder with the 4r70w... that would be fun :q:q:q:q.

Yes the Buick GS and GSX had the 455

Yes they have kits for them out there now but what I meant is stock it ain't gonna happen. Stock your not even going to get a single turbo, it's just that stock there going to be making a twin turbo V6 ;)

yeah,it was suppose to be TWINFORCE:

taken from popular mechanics:

""Last month it was reported that Ford would likely drop the name TwinForce from its new line of engines, and today the Detroit automaker officially changed the nameplate to EcoBoost. The TwinForce name first appeared on Ford’s Lincoln MKR concept car and was intended to convey the power of a V8 but the fuel economy of a V6. However, Ford was concerned that consumer will only see TwinForce name as an increase in power, completely overlooking its fuel-economy attributes."

I'd really question how hard it would be to make it fit. Since it sits sideways in its factory application and was never meant to be bolted into an MN12, I'd be willing to bet it will be more work than is worth.

Since a Terminator makes almost as much power and already has aftermarket support, and bolts in with very few modifications, I think I know which route I would take.

Yeah but go ahead and put a Terminator engine in your car and see what happens. It's a cast iron turd compared to our blocks and I have helped to assemble 2 GT engines to be put in place of the Iron engines.

I look at stepping forward and not back with an Iron block V8 :(

The new engine is being built in Cleveland, and when taken off the factory inpossed settings (limiters) put out another 100 hp and Trq with no modifications. There will be more of these engines showing up in time, but for now it's starting up in their premium cars first. Look for Taurus SHO orders being taken around April.

Touche. In that case, I could still swap heads & use a twin turbo setup on the factory engine for a lot cheaper than swapping a new engine would be.

Similar end result, two different ways to get there. Different strokes for different folks, I s'pose.

Yes as we just sold a GS 400 out of the dealership I work out of. We where told it was a 455 but after digging into it we found it to be a lesser model :(

as for the GS with the 400, 67-69 had the 400, 70 buick had the GS 455 and 455 stage 1 and also the lesser GS 350. Pontiac, Buick and oldsmobile all had their own versions of the 455. But yes Super Duty 455 or even Super Duty 421 does sound mean.......alot meaner than ecoboost......

ive heard guys with the termi swap in a sn-95 (like the cobra in my pic) and with a tubular k-member they actually about balance out the weight difference

Those GS400 are worth a pretty penny.
