Took the 98 LSC (stock other than my tune) to the track friday night to shake down the new tune.

I'd set a goal on the way to the track that if the car went 14.97 I would be satisfied.

Got to the track, teched in..and went to the starting line with ZERO cool down time.

Ran the car with 3/4 tank of fuel, spare tire and jack in the truck, baby seat in the back seat.

First pass, no cool down
14.97 with a .028 RT!! ( i missed my goal by .01 on the first pass)

Cooled the car down for 30 minutes and it went 14.93! w00t

Let the car sit for 1 hour and returned to the lanes and ran a 14.79@96ish.
MPH is down a bit, I'm gonna pull my 1-2 shift back a couple of hundred RPM's and see if the MPH doesnt pick up.

I did a lousy job of getting any datalogs...but had a great time at the track.

So much for the slow gen 2's eh? I went 14.62 at 97.3mph with an off the shelf SCT chip, Dynomax bullet mufflers, and hot air conical filter.

Not really, my 95 LSC ran a 14.9 stock at 95mph, and the 96 Mark VIII base ran a 14.9 at 96mph (crosses the line in 2nd gear causing of the 3.08's). Never ran the 98 LSC bone stock. I consider 14.9 to be pretty good for a stock Mark VIII, nothing mind blowing, especially these days with stock 13 second luxury cars. I can tell my 95 LSC made more power than my 98 LSC after being modded... the 4.30's make it feel like it has 400lbs of torque though haha...

It's a night and day difference between a stock geared and 4.30 gear Mark VIII. Be careful on the 1-2 shift especially if you have the timing retard removed with your tune. You can get dangerously sideways and crash into the curb if not careful.

My 98lsc was close with similar mods. 14.66 @ 95.3 with xcal 2, deleted mufflers, and wider street radials.

Congrats on the 14.7 pass xlrviii

Congrats on the 14.7 pass xlrviii

Thank you sir.
I was absolutely STOKED to not receive a 15.20 timeslip like I was expecting out of a "stone stock turd" like my car..haha

If I kill the 100LBS of mufflers out back I could probably "eek" into the 14.60's.

I never ran my 98 on the track so I dont have any basis to compare off of. I'd love to see the rest of the times though (60ft and 1/8) as well any bone stock slips.

looks like anything close to the 15.0 is pretty respectable for a gen 2 stock

tune alone to pull 14.7 isnt bad at all then

Racin in Jan....sweet. Couple more months before it opens here. And I'm not going to bother going openning weekend this year. The track was REAL bad last year for the opener.

Tommy's tune is about as good as they come... but mine is better!

Why is your tune better haha? What do you have the line pressure set at? Did you remove timing retard in between shifts? What is your timing* at wide open throttle?

On another note, not surprised at all to see a bone stock gen 2 run 14.7 with just a tune, especially with Tommy driving it. I can pretty much get into any car and improve the time at least a little bit just because of how many times i've run the 1/4 mile and Tommy has more seat time than me...

I can't reveal my secrets....

My line pressure isn't relevant due to jmodding.... timing retard between shifts, for what? Timing at WOT when where how?

BTW... Tiff could school your ass in your own car hate to break it to you :D

funny you said that.
Friend of mine with a Mustang GT conv with a 4r70w called me while he was at the track
he was running 9.04-9.07 in the 1/8th.
After talking to him, convincing him to leave the car in drive, launch off idle and shallow staging he called me back with a 8.96 pass.

So "the tommy talk" was worth about .1 haha
(who says bench racing dont work haha)
