How long does it take to swap the motor and trans out of these? I have a chilton manual, but it only goes to 99

Alldata shows 19 hours for the long block and 22 for the short block. Looks like a couple of weeks doing it in your garage, part time. Remember, those times are for professionals who allegedly know what they're doing and have the detailed shop manual. The manuals pop up on ebay from time to time.

and have the tools, and pull it out from the bottom....

drop from the bottom the rotors, shocks, power steering and cradle all come out. I did it in about 50 hours by myself pretty much I had a buddy help for about 8 jsut to get it out and aligned back in. I had to retake out the transmission after it was in make sure the torque convertor is lined up and in properly!!!! I also did not havea hoist I did it with a small chain fall crain. Hoisted the front of the car over the motor what a pain but it worked. I also had a problem with the rad not working (pump) so after replacing the pump with a used one (bad idea) I went electric what a breeze.

Also the tranny filing is a pain in the but. Get a small gasoline transfer pump the kind you can get at pepboys. Works slow but its great.
