Hey Gang... haven't been on here in a long while. Got a couple of questions to ask:

Will 16 inch 2000 LS rims fit a 2006 LS? I don't know if they changed backspacing...

Does anyone have a scan of the 2006 model year LS brochure? I have through 05, and either lost or never got the 06 one. I'm trying to figure out what options were available...

On a 2000 LS 3.9V8 car, anyone get the error code for an open circuit on the airbag circuit? (I had the car in the air the other day, and I'm betting something twisted ever so slightly and something moved a MM now the system's having a conniption...) What's odd is that when I picked up this error, flashing light on the dash, the traction control light was going nuts as well. It happened about 30 minutes after a gas pump malfunctioned and had gas spraying out of the tank. Car ran fine for about 20 minutes or so then it developed a random miss, only at about 70 mph once or twice, like the traction control kicked in. At first that's what I thought it was, but then it did it again on a section of road that was bone dry. Then the airbag light came on. I'm sure it's a connector issue, I was just looking for hints as to where to start first, if there's one mongo connector that goes bananas once in a while. - otherwise it's back under the car I go, squeezing every connector I can find... yay me!

Also, she's got about 135k on the clock now.

the airbag thing more than likely is a clockspring. the traction control thing might be more serious or the sensors could just be dirty. as far as the wheels i'm not really sure but if i'd have to guess i'd say yes. i'm sure others would help you out more than I but i wanted to bump your thread with something so that it doesn't get ignored

The OEM wheels from any Lincoln LS will fit any other Lincoln LS, regardless of the model year. My '06 came from the factory with 16" wheels.

There weren't many options available, relative to other years; they were pretty much using up the parts to finish out the production run.

There are two common "flash codes" on the airbag light (32 and 34, or something like that). One indicates that the clockspring in the steering wheel column is bad; the other indicates that the problem is in the connector under the driver's seat. It's a relatively common problem in older LSes; if you search on "clockspring," you should find posts on it. I know QuikLS posted about the flash codes in at least one of those threads.

I have a ton of crap under my seat, I'll bet I bumped something under there. All the steering wheel features work, but that's not to say it's a separate circuit.

My 16's have snow meats on them, and if I get a newer LS, (which I will) I was hoping I wouldn't have to get new rims for it. bonus!

I was curious of the Elite package... I've seen a couple of cars that were supposed to have that in conjunction with the sport package, but then they had non HID lights, and wood at the top of the steering wheel, but had the right air dam in the front. I was trying to figure out what they had in the product map, and what options deleted others bla bla bla. Like the heated rear seats, looks like depending on the year, the switch could be in front of the window control, or on the side of the door on the vertical section in front of the door pull.

I have PDF copies of the 2006 LS brochure and the Dealer Order Guide. Both of these will show all the options. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll email them to you.

There was no Sport Package in 2006 because they were all Sports. The packages were Premium and Elite, and to get Elite, you had to get the Premium. HID lights were standard in the Elite package, but were also available on the lesser models as an individual option. Wood was available with both the Premium and Elite packages. Heated rear seats was available in the 2003-2006 models. The switch was always on the door arm by the window switch. It was never near the door pull.

Out of curiosity, anybody know the part number for the clockspring in a 00 ls v8 euro?

Not doing good today... looking into this car, parked the garage door on the grille of the 04 CV sport... I figure I might as well buy some extra parts on ebay....

Here is the deal on the SRS light.
It flashes two codes - blink, blink, blink, pause, blink, blink = 32

These are called LFC codes and tell you what is wrong (not always where).

The two most common issues are codes 32 and 36:
B1932 32 8 Driver Air Bag Circuit Resistance High Go To Pinpoint Test H .
B1993 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground Go To Pinpoint Test R .
B1992 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition Go To Pinpoint Test T .
B1994 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance Go To Pinpoint Test V .
B1995 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low Go To Pinpoint Test X .

The two most common issues are:
- the clockspring in the steernig colunm wore through and is either shorting or open - which provides the connection to the airbag in the steering wheel
- the connector under the driver's seat has broken - which provide a connection to the seat's weight sensor (partof the airbag system).

Quick, you'll be happy to know I did search and found your above thread for the 32 code and what not... But, what I'm asking for is the actual part number for the spring... That I did not see in there.

Under seat wires are good, and about the last year or so I could at random intervals smell something cooking in the car. First time it had me worried to the point I had the glove box empty and all my stuff on the seat should I see yellow stuff popping out of the hood, but it never happened. Now, I start singing the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire... we don't need no water the the mother HEE-HAW burn... burn mother HEE-HAW burn... followed by nationwide is on your side...

I believe the clockspring part number is XW4Z-14A664-AA. Try Maxx @ 5 Star Ford to verify ->
 
you sure the connector under the seat its ok?, you have to make the driver's seat all the way to the front and from the back side you will see this bright yellow connector (dont know if its the same color for all years but in my 02 its yellow), im just saying because all your steering wheel functions work...

Seems to be okay... I can see it plan view, and yeah, it's yellow. I pulled on it, pushed on it, grabbed each wire and push/pulled it, and they're well attached.

Steering wheel functions do work, but I get the burning smell every so often, more so recently in the last couple months. My horn has always been a bitch to operate, and lately it seems to work easier. Used to have to beat the crap out of the wheel to get it to kinda honk.

Dunno... maybe the only other recourse I have is to take the clockspring out and attack it with a multimeter and see if all the connections are good. If they are, well then, obviously that's not the problem... Should be a simple continuity function check. It wouldn't surprise me though if some wire somewhere else in the car is narfed up... my mirror and auto wipers don't work, and neither does the radio when the rear defroster is on. So adding this to the list isn't much of a stretch...
