Lower Control Arm

It isn't even a Lincoln suspension guys - with the exception of the air springs, everything is right off the Thunderbird/Cougar, which didn't warrant a super expensive intricate suspension.

Overall I'm OK with it. If it were beefy/heavy like a Mustang/Crown Victoria, the car wouldn't perform like it does. But aside from bushing issues on 13-17 year old cars, the suspensions on my sister cars are fine.

Lincoln LS suspension - aluminum control arms, bad wheel bearings, bad ball joints, etc. My 2000 LS used up more suspension goodies in the 5 years I owned it than my Cougar has in 11 (and counting) years.

You can't really say its a Lincoln suspension vs being a Ford or Mercury suspension.... Everything is a Ford part.

not a bad design???
ok then here maybe you will change that statement, this was from slamming a pot hole.....
mark7.jpg

it bent everything and ripped the 4 front k member bolts right out of the frame and punched a hole 6 inches in diameter into the engine block, totalled, all because of dog crap suspension, how many people can say they blew a 6 inch hole in their engine block because they bent a control arm?????

looks more like they drove it over a curb at 80, ive hit my share of big assed potholes here in il and never ripped k frame bolts out

i was in the car chicken, the quarter wrinkled from it too, it felt like we hit a moose, but the only thing in the road was a pothole, and a WHOLE TON OF OIL!!!!!

do you know the history of the car? maybe the k member was already (mostly) freed up? just hard to believe. ive seen marks take a hit, not as many as you, but you gotta remember i gotta put them back together :) ive seen the lca folded bad but never a k member rip free. and what broke the block? lca through it or motor mount actually rip free?

Wait a minute,hold on,
you are saying you hit a pothole so hard it crumpled the right rear quarter panel and think the front suspension design is weak??????????

what suspension in the automotive world do you think could have survived a hit so hard that it buckled the body like that? we have all seen pics of mark viiis from head on collisions and i dont remember seeing rear quarter panels like that, that hit had to be so violent (like your moose reference) how could anyone think the suspension would survive? i assume the mini spare was put on after the hit just so the car could be moved?

that must of been a hell of a pothole, you sure it wasnt an open manhole?
