The true defenition of an a hole!

yea, second gens don't seem like a car from 10 years ago, they seem like an 03 car!!! I love the lights around the door handels....sweet cars, love the gen 1's too.....you know what, I just love lincoln mark VIIIs...ok now I've said it!

for 400,000 miles I was a dyed in the wool First Gen fanatic.

The only thing that really bothered me about the first gen was there was no way to datalog the car without spending a huge amount of money.

Hell.. I was even OK with the crappy headlights..because they actually made my crappy night vision get better {use it or lose it!}

But... When my first gen got stolen I was at a crossroads.
Get another "hard to tune first gen" or get a car that would "talk back to me via it's data connector".

Once I got the first datastream from my second gen.. I was HOOKED!!
then again.. I'm an information JUNKIE.. I NEED INPUT! HAHA

Then I drove the second gen for awhile.. and while it was "different" I began to feel right at home.

The second gen seemed more refined, yet still had the "mark 8 majic" that I loved so much.

Now when I'm in a first gen.. they just seem "old and less refined".

I would compare the two as comparing the b52 bomber and the B2 stealth bomber....BOTH are great machines, each have their benifits and drawbacks.

I still love the first gens, as it was my first mark affliction.

But the second gen, and it's "sassy tech talk" via the data port is quickly winning me over.

My first gen "talked to me" but I was the only one that could hear it.
The second gen talks to ME.. AND MY TUNING software!

Honestly, I would take any mark viii the gen 1s are a lot sportier feeling... I hate the feeling of the steering in my 98.

Gen 2s just have too many comforts for me to go back to a gen 1 unless some one puts a gen 2 interior in the gen 1.

Pretty much speaking all mark 8's suffer from the "hard to find parts" problem.

all first gens <--hard to find headlights
96's <-- Imrc controller and low beam bulbs for the LSC's as well as the VRMC
97-98 <--headlight low beams, rear neon ballasts, cup holders IMRC controller
98's <--- ABS sensors


All the mark 8's suffer from that...no revelation there.
 
And with 1 96 nearly every wiring harness is unique to it. Engine, trans, etc.
 
When my project's done I'd like most gen 2 owners to sit in mine and see what they think.

All the things people are afraid to do to a gen 2.... cause they already think it's the best it can be. :D
 
I can't wait to start my mods.... I wonder how people will feel about me modding a CE.... not like I care either way.
 
I think a gen 2 needs a lot to make it fun but the same can be said for a gen 1... They really are the same car I just like the interior better.... Gen 2 guys aren't afraid to make the cars fast. look at the fastest marks out there...
