ok i just bought a 95 mark viii but my cruise doesnt work i checked the fuse but it was fine and with my heavy foot i need wit when driving back and forth to work. is it a common problem for the cruise to be bad? the horn still works too. now about the radio i was wondering if a later model in dash cd player would work on mine i have a tape player now and the stupid power button wont stay in so i figured might as well try to get an in dash cd player and i would like a factory one because i dont like when my cars interior doesnt match ( yeah im particular i know ) thanks Gilby

You cruise doesnt work prob because it was unhooked because of the reacall part wasnt avaible. You should have got a card in the mail. I bought my 97 last year and it didnt work either. I recieved the recal a few months later. As far as the radio im not really sure I switched to a Pioneer Headunit after i bought the car.

The radios that they used volume button sometime does were out and wont shut down I agree with you I like the stock sound system, on my second radio and soon to be my 3rd amp lol. I bought a radio on ebay cus my button would not stay down

yeah and all the crap they put on the roads up here i wanna wash the car like once a week or so but i dont want to break my antenna thats why i want to get a radio but if im going to purchase one i want an in dash cd player since i dont already have one

Sometimes only certain areas on the knob wear out. Mine has a spot that won't stay down, if I turn a little either way it stays in/off. Try that until you get your new radio. There is a Kenwood double din available that changes color that matches great for around 250. I'm not a fan of that brand, but most newer stereos are leaning towards flippin' blue and red, green is pretty well phased out for now. I like everthing to match too, so its a pain looking for this stuff. Good luck. BTW do a search on the cruise recalls that have been done. Some dealers have been screwing things up, even doing it completely wrong so watch out.

ok so i took the Mark to the Ford dealership to get the recall checked and they put it in but my cruise still doesnt work :( is there a relay somewhere that i can check?

Not always. When my clock-spring started going south the horn was fine, cruise got temperamental. Went on for months like that. Eventually I replaced it. I think even when I did the horn still worked fine up to replacement day. I am sure it would have eventually went also, but because one goes does not mean both will at the same time.

Weird... I was always under the impression that everything stopped working once the clockspring went south...

Its made up of several leads in a ribbon. The ribbon starts to break apart but it does not do so all at once.
