I have recently lowered my ls and noticed i cant get my jack under it any more. i have a low rise heavy duty jack. I needed to get under my car and had to drive up on a 2x4 stacked 2 high to get the jack under. Now im sure someone sells a even lower jack or maybe even somesort of ramp but who wants to spend money if you dont have to??

i built a set of ramps out of scrap 2x4s.. very simple only took about 2 hours

here are some rough directions

you will need to cut 8 pieces at 14 inches and 8 pieces at 18.25 in.
to cut the angle measure 14 inches down on the 18 in piece and mark. your angle should go from that mark to the very edge of board. after cutting all eight use a framing square to figure out that angle to transfer to 2 of the 14 in pieces. after all cuts are made assemble and screw together.. hope pics help cuz im not good at explaining. this will make two ramps

I used two 2x6's for my ramps. I take them with me to the dealer for oil changes. Their lifts will not fit under the LS without the ramps.

nice ramps...... when they are done I'll have to post up some pics of my ramps. I have two of those ramp jack stand things...... I'm making them longer so they actually reach my wheels before ripping my bumper off

cant u use the factory jack that came with the car? that sits real low, thats what i had to do even b4 i lowered my car, i used the factory jack to get it off the ground then once it was high enough i used my other jack

Drive it up on 2x, bricks, what ever else is laying around. Been doing it for years on different lowered cars.

My MarkVII I used to with it running lean all my weight on the front end, let the air suspension kick in to rise it up till the compressor stopped then quickly open the door and shut off. Good for 2 inches or so.

that had to be an interesting site to see!!!!!

stock LS has no problems with jacks....I have two different ones, and even the crappy walmart floor jack someone bought me when I was 18 fits no problem.

lowered, I still dont see an issue as I have 3-4" of clearance. maybe its the side skirts and such that i dont have

ya i have about 3 in but it wont fir

Don't use the 2x4's. I made some ramps from 1x6's. Made one piece about 18 inches long then another about 12 inches long then one more about 6 inches long. stacked them on top of each other butted together on one side and nailed them together. I drive the front wheels on them and just enought clearence to get the jack under. By the way I have to take these to my mechanics place to get his lift under my car also.

Im glad i made these because noone ever mentioned this prob before. I think that corvettes are as low maybe even lower. How do they get on the lift

hahahahahahahaha i guess I should feel lucky!

ya you should. but for a lowered ls its worth the trouble. i made the ramps for home use but i guess i will take them when i get work done to because the side skirts on ly car have already been scratched from a lift
