Gen2 Tail Light Lettering is Shot

The lettering that runs along the bottom of my tail light is shot, all the gold has peeled off. I've been contemplating on what to do about this and I've come up with three options

1. Remove the lettering completely

2. Paint the letters

3. Replate them, which I don't know how you would go about getting it done..

Does anyone else have this issue?

I just want to throw some ideas and try and think of a way to make it look a little less crappy.
 
i got some Testros gold model paint from the hobby store that seemed to last a while (i have a collectors edition, not sure what the other one looks like)
 
since the stickers are obsolete in chrome or gold, i would either take them off totally, or have a vinyl shop try and replicate them, they just wont be raised 3 d like factory but at least it would look good still. i always wanted to have some made by a vinyl shop to copy the factory ones as close as possible and slap them on a neon to see what it would look like, i bet it would look good.
 
I took mine off I like it better that way I can get pics if you like just have to weight to get my car back
 
I think it would look nice without the letters. I would like the clean look but since nothing is wrong with it, I will keep it on. (might decide to take it off after pics)

i have a second gen and took them off, increased my top speed by 28 m.p.h. (less weight) lol

I second the vinyl shop idea got any close up pics ?
My nefew does a little vinyl I can ask him if he can get close.
 
I think Max can still get the nameplates (well the Lincoln and 32V ones.) I asked him about them not long ago. Shoot him a message in his section. I recall the one (32V I think) was quite pricey...
 
I'm really stuck as what to do about all my logos... the front Lincoln badge is losing it's gold, the rear lincoln badge is silver and the tail light lettering is shot. I just don't know if I want to take away all the gold specific to the CE or try and restore it all.
 
It being a CE personally I would try and keep it if it was gold originally. I needed another light assembly as mine had a short. They one I got had faded lettering. I ended up taking them off. I like it better, it looks much cleaner. There is to much writing on the back of the car IMHO.
 
On one side of things it is a CE and they had all the gold, but I'm not really a big fan of the gold... I'm not sure how much I care about keeping the car original right now.
 
I like the no letters, nice and clean, I think all the badges and name from all the years should be removed except thr trunk and grille. I just hate cleaning wax out of them.
