but when you search even just a work it highlights the word in the thread in red so i got to the point of just scrolling the page down looking for red words and most had none in them

I know that search has been an issue and is an issue with some members... and I'm sorry for bringing this thread back to life... (was a post by Frogman and needed to reply)...

Personally and I believe most members don't mind seeing a question asked again. I personally feel that in a friendly forum we can offer support to newbies. For one many don't know how to in a forum community.

The reason I made LvC my home back many moons ago was because I didn't get bash on questions when I was trying to join in and become part of the community.

But one think I personally would like to see improve or not get worse is the name calling and bashing of new members when they make a mistake. Hopefully they learn from their lack of knowledge on forum etiquette and learn how forums work and that it can get annoying to see post on How to get rid of the Door Ajar warning. But I also see value in these post as it gives newbies a chance to post a response and become more of an active member to the site.

A few things that we all need to remember..

- not everyone knows how to post in forums or how they work.

- some members are older and have less computers skills than others. (Remember Lincolns are an old person's car)

- if you post a picture of something you have done to your car someone will not think it's the greatest thing one can do and post criticism get use to it. They are not bashing you just offering an opinion and you may not like it.

I don't mind answering questions over and over again, but remember every time someone else asks the same thing, that is one more thread for the people who do search to look through. I wouldn't mind making a post with links to threads addressing all the common problem. I'll take out the time and compile something like that if I knew it would get stickied. Let me know if you'd be interested.

Back when I was leader of my clan we would delete threads that were double/triple/quadruple posts. This way searching became easier. Also, rating the threads would be a good thing so we can weed out threads that are off topic.

For example 93 blue on blues thread on the hids is rated so high because its very helpful and is exactly what it says, the gen1 hid project

A huge tech section would be good too - new guys could simply be refered to the appropriate tech article, then have their thread deleted.

In fact, a huge, useful tech section could do wonders! I mean, imagine a tech article for virtually every typical issue and people's projects... would be great!

People have to remember to take pics and do the write up for the tech section.

That's my biggest problem... I'm almost finished before I remember Damn I should have taken pic...

But a bigger Tech section would help.

Ever for simple things like brakes...

I'm guessing that there are more members like me who are not afraid to turn a wrench but just lack the experience.

I have learned a lot from this forum by asking questions, and now not afraid to dive into much bigger projects.

Also parting out a car teaches you a lot about where things are and how to work on them.
