Exhaust redo

piping size does effect drone... thats why my strait pipe dont have it.. its stock size gen 1 with 2 inch and 2.25
 
We're not going for loud, though. We've been there, done that. We do not want straight pipes since we've already had cars far faster that we raced. We're going for a specific sound. My car doesn't drone, the two x pipes help eliminate that.

So NYC, you have 2 X pipes? is this proven better? What if I did one of each?
I already had the post "X vs H pipes" but I am getting all the info I can for when I do my exhaust. not anytime soon though.

I am new to exhaust setups. I only did one full exhaust before on my 71 Impala. I really dont know much about the LS either, I have always been a Chevy fan (Still am). This is my 3rd Ford of 13 cars/trucks (89 Escort, 84 Mustang and the LS) and I actually use to dispise Ford. But The LS is a whole nother league.
 
I did it just to see what would happen, since Nick found a few of them on eBay for like 28 bucks shipped. Figured what the hell, remove my mid muffler, put another X in it's place and see what happens. Like I mentioned, it feels like it has a little more grunt, but that can be all in my head.

One of each? I don't know. I can't see exhaust gasses making 90 degree turns. Nick mentioned above doing that on his car. Maybe he'll do it the next time we're at his friend's shop.
 
where did you get your dual in dual out muffler... i'm looking to get one in a 2.25... just going to dump it at the rear axle...
 
Some dude that ran an exhaust supply shop in NJ that's now out of business. Try eBay - there's always a bunch of Maganaflow stuff on there.
 
Yea i found a couple on ebay... about 100 bucks plus shipping... alot better the 300 for two mufflers.

do you remember what the length was on that muffler.... all i have found is 5x8 was it a 18" muffler or 11" hard to tell by picture
 
I wouldn't go with that muffler if your car is lowered. Look at the side picture I took. Nick has Sprint springs in his car with 18s and that muffler is the lowest point on the car. I forget what the actual size is. Hopefully Nick chimes in and tells ya.
 
No not lowered... I found one that is a d/d 2 1/4. 4x9x14. think it would fit nice in there..
 
That does not have the x, but you can add an external x, thats what we will probably try nexy on NYC LS8's car, his muffler is like the one you posted on ebay but in 2 1/2.

Gotta warn though, if your car is lowered and you use the 5 x 8 size muffler it is low, speed bumps are you enemy, I may be going the 4" body muffler on mine with external x also??
 
Yeah, I think we should put that other muffler back in with the two X's and yank out the rear mufflers....see if that sounds a little bit better or not.
