So I have discovered that my rear shocks are shot. I am looking for replacements. After calling the parts store and finding out they had no such part, I turned to good ole LVC.

I did some searching and found the general suggestions are the

Blisteins from the 03 cobra

or

Monroe Sensatracs from the 96 t-bird v8

I am mainly trying to decide which ones I want. I'm what most would call a spirited driver but, I do log 300 miles a week on the interstate. I'm ok with a firmer ride but I dont wan't to bounce all over the place either. So I guess I'm open to people thoughts about which to get.

Also I have read that to install these you just cut the rubber out of the mount and insert the new piece that comes with the new shock. Is this correct? If not any help is welcome.

thats it, and we put the Blisteins on the rear of the thundermark, it didnt bounce but it was really stiff

i put the motorcraft markviii shocks, it was before the discovery of burning out the old mounts. i dunno i think it will be ok, just remember that the rear affects the front in every aspect so the entire car will feel stiffer

for the rear the monroes were VERY GOOD shocks, had those on my car before changing to the Koni's on all 4 corners........

Yeah the koni's are a bit out of my price range lol poor college kid here lol

I got low mile Blisteins from an 03 cobra it is stiff but I like it. It does bounce alittle on older parts of the freeway though not from bumps but the slight wave from alot of big trucks going through

ive had monroe's on both my 97 and 98 lsc's, and currently have them on both of my 93's, love the ride and love the price of them you cant go wrong. also i have used gabriel shocks for the t-bird on a customers 93 and they loved those too, but those are like 20 bucks for apair i think thats too cheap of quality for me lol but then again i have never tried them, after i put them on their car i drove it and they seemed just fine. i prefer the sensa trac's.

Is there any reason the Cobra Bilsteins are the only ones that work? There are a few choices for the Cobra but I've only heard of people going with the Bilsteins.

You can go with other shocks from a cobra and the reason that I think that
everyone has bilsteins is you can get almost new ones for cheep and they are high quality

I have 4 sets of the Ford Racing Cobra Bilsteins (p/n M-18125-ROO)left and need to get our cost out of them $100.00 plus frt. Remember these are rough riders no give at all. They are the yellow ones and are complete sets.

Well I ended up getting the Monroe Sensatracs because I could have them right away. They made such a difference. The plastic in my mounts was shreading and my shock wouldnt compress. The car rides so much better now.

I think I could of lived with the cobra ones because what I had was in sad shape.
