Well, my Saturday project went without a hitch. I now have hot, AND cold blowing air...DCCV replaced! This part took me less than 1 1/2 hours, and the stealership wanted over $450 in just labor.
Got rid of the pulse, with new rotors, and pads....

i can't decide if my problem with a/c is due to the DCCV. my air comes through the vents and it takes a long time to get cool, well not really cool, more like "almost cool warm air", lol. is this a symptom of the DCCV having to be replaced?

Hey rick, sounds to me like you just need a recharge.

Ebc

Are those EBC Red Stuff pads and EBC rotors?

Yes, EBC...The english stuff.
Noisy as heck, right off the bat, then quieted right down. They are smooth, and WAY better than OE crap. They fit perfect, and everything went as it should.
Oh, and by the way, Those are Sebring lug nuts on there, and they work perfect.
The whole project went perfect, and I saved over 1200 bucks doing these 2 chores myself...besides, I had fun!

Thanks Hyelife...!!!
What, no one is going to comment on my other project in the background? The balanced, blueprinted, full roller valve train, 5L(((grunt, grunt)))

Very nice! Good idea painting those shields behind the rotors, too.

please tell me you did a photo write up. I need to do mine but I don't have a shop manual. if someone wouldn't mind please email me the info on how to do this.

Is it bad if I noticed the Comp Cams box way before the actual items meant for the picture? Heh, what can I say? ;)

Speaking of Comp Cams...which cam did you go with? I had the XE270HR-14 in my 87 LSC with Yella Terra adjustable 1.72 pedstal rockers (and a whole slew of other crap obviously)

I dont know the model number off the top of my head, but it is a .512" lift, with a 281 deg duration roller cam. I have the comp cam's hydrolic roller lifters, and will be going with roller rockers.
I left the stock bottom end in, with new .040 over pistons, but I had it balanced, and blueprinted, for longevity.
I havent gotten the head/intake set-up yet, so if anyone out there has a set of heads...
As to a photo write up, no, I did not.
It is very easy. You need a 12mm socket, and end wrench, and a 15mm(?) set, of various std, and deep sockets. the upper bolt, for the brackets in the front are behind the spindle arm, and will require an extension.
Watch this, as the factory used copious amounts of thread lock, and it makes the bolts tight, all the way out.
I did not do the stainless lines.
Good luck.
ILLS, I look at that kind of stuff first, as well...:D

I'm gonna hi-jack my own thread...
Dont know how popular Fikse wheels are, but they are stunning.
My guess is they would make a set for LS's, as they can do one-off custom stuff...offsets, diameters, etc...
They make a stunning product, and they are made right here in Washington(Kent). One of my friends had a set made...took 5 weeks...and they are stunning, expensive, but stunning!

Nice brake job! Nice Porsche as well!!!!! Owning a Targa is on my list of things to do before I die..lol!

Nice job!!! Really makes those wheels look good.

Sounds almost what I ran. With 1.6s it was .512 lift, with the 1.72s, .544 on the intake and exhaust. I think the duration was something like 218/224. What's it all going in?

And Fikse wheels are insane. Love em. Just a weee bit outta my price range!:(

Yes, 218/224, at I think 5 or 10degrees(?) off center???
I want max lift, so probably go with the higher rocker ratio.
I dont know what it will go into. I am doing this with my teenage sons...WE are loving doing this together!
I am leaning toward a cheap version of the 65 mustang. I like the '65 comet cyclone, in the 2 door hardtop version.
you can do everything on it, that you can do with a mustang, for less up front. And they dont weigh anything.
I also have a line on a '68 mustang fastback, but it doesnt run. Not that it needs to be running, but...

Not to be an a$$, but he would cringe at the name "Targa".
Its an '84(or 83?) 930 turbo. 325 hp, but it only weighs 2600lbs.
Its loud, and vibrates, and is funner than hell to drive!
