tranny cooler ?

Appears so. But I would not want to use those plastic mounts, I used some metal strapping screwed into the radiator support. I also used the 20,000 BTU plate cooler from B&M as well.

Nothing comes ready to install on a Mark VIII. :p

That said, call Bill, he's a good guy and will see that you get what you need. :)

The cooler itself is likely a good one for mild applications. Do a search and you will see you need hose barb fittings and extra hose depending where and how you install it.

I have the same kit as k9t8m. I used one hose barb from the kit to attach to the radiator. I used the hose clamps to attach everything else.

I used the fittings that came with the kit, everything is double clamped for a little added protection.

The reason I went w\ B&M is because the way the air flows through the cooler, at an angle, it has more contact with the plates, and makes it much more efficient. And because of this, smaller B&M coolers are just as efficient as much larger traditional coolers.

The kit came with Ford 1/2-20 inverted flare fittings? Most come with regular NPT barb fittings.

You're right, the kit came with NPT barb fittings. I used one to thread into the radiator. I cut the other line and removed the Ford fitting, then used hose clamps to secure the hose to the line.

What I *should* have done is ordered those parts and kept the original Ford fitting on the transmission line.

Lesson learned and Bulkpart page bookmarked. I've got two more to do!

That is exactly what I did too. I will change it eventually, but for now its working fine.

Understand what the problem is.

NPT pipe thread is tapered. The thread contact along the taper seals the fluid, usually with assistance from a sealant tape or compound..

The 1/2-20 thread is straight - no taper. The fitting seal is at the base with an o-ring. The threads never see any fluid.

You put a tapered thread into a straight thread receptacle and as a result have very little seal. It may or may not work for a while or maybe forever. You just don't know.

So I need two of those Ford flare fittings correct? Does the adapter kit from bulkpart come with both?
