in middle of installing walboro some stuff broke please help

ok, i got a 95 gen 1, i got the old fuel pump out... the little yellow hing thing that attatches to a black thing that moves up and down, its connected by a yellow wire... well that little yellow wire broke off right at the yellow thing and repairing it looks mute, i guess i need a new one - what does it do ... can i just install it with out it! ughhh

also that rubber sleeve that goes on the new fuel pump ( i took it off the old one) i fit it on the new fuel pump, but how do you guys put that on the new fuel pump and put the new fuel sock or filter whatever with that rubber piece, it doesnt work - anyways i ripped that rubber piece. it wont fit around the new fuel pump with that new filter sock that it comes with - please help im trying to finish this up...!!
 
Why don't you take a picture instead of caliing it this thing and that thing so we can tell you what thing is wrong?
 
i got everything in, it was running good... but now its starting to choke - i dont know whats going on?

yes its the thing that guages the fuel, the wire broke right at the sauder, so its screwed- as far as the rubber thing that goes around the actual fuel pump, mine tore because there no way that fits on there with the supplied fuel sock that comes with the walboro, so what i did is kinda modify it so it fits most of it when its clamped down.

everything seemed to go ok, i hear it going... maybe im low on fuel - i just put six bucks of gas in - then i drove back home turned it off let it sit for maybe a beer or two being all happy - got back in turned it on - it hesitated to start - then started, then seemed to kinda be out of breath a bit... im not trying a wot because i go even half way and it acts up a bit... mind you my tank is pretty low... but usually when im low on gas it just stops running rather than act like its not getting the right fuel ammount.
 
im gonna get a fuel guage and see whats going on, but any ideas - all these damn posts for walboros are for 2nd gens got darnm it.
 
Sounds like you completly botched the whole job and now your wondering why it isn't working? It might be your fuel regulator though, going from a weak stock pump to a walboro 255 might have killed it.
 
i didnt botch anything - that rubber thing doesnt fit on the pump like the posts say, and also - the stock fuel sock does not fit on there as well.

im leaning towards the FPR if anything
 
if i had known that all the write ups ive ever read have been for gen 2's i would have came on here and questioned more rather then spending the whole day on this - im sorry i really up a lot of effort into doing this... whatever was written up about this is not completely accurate - oh yea drop the exhaust, real easy :-(.

Did you check the thread i mentioned on LOD? there is a post and pics of one being done on a 94.

Edit: it would have been wise to change your FPR for a new stock one. I mentioned this before too. - add it to your 'to do' list.
 
i also left the exhaust off from after the third cat becuse i sheared off one of the bolts because its so easy to drop the exhaust down
 
no im about to right now, but when i read that i botched the job - it p.o. me because i really worked hard on this all day. but fyi, that walboro edelbrock pump, that fuel sock from the stock one does NOT fit on there, nor does that rubber thing.
 
Dropping the exhaust is very easy, rusty bolts is just part of life. Anything with less than 10 bolts is what I would call easy. When your working on cars :q:q:q:q happens like broken bolts, you just have to deal with it.

I would say at this point the FPR is to blame more than likely.
 
it doesnt say anything about the fuel pump filter sock at all - it looks like he did basically what i did - except for my fuel line from the pump to the housing wasnt cracked at all - i just reused the old one it was snug and looked good. as far as that rubber thing that goes around the pump it looks like he modified that and the carrier - but he didnt bother to write anything about it?
 
well dropping the rear is pretty simple once you start messing with it, however the part that connects to the third cat, its got like a double bolted cuppler that you have to take off to pull it off so that you can competely take the exhaust off - i tried taking the two bolts off where the first two cats are, but it wouldnt budge - so i just got busy with the rusty bolts.

so how can i diagnose this

no one else on here has a gen 1 with a walboro 255? cmon! if it was my FPR - what would the symptoms be like.

it may also be a vac leak, but i doubt it - i tripped checked that gasket was sealed right. (the one that connects between the tank and the fuel punk bracket and such)

unfortunately i dont have the money to go out and buy a fuel pressure guage - there like 35 bucks. trying to find someone tonight - but if and when i get my hands on one, after i hook it up to the schrader - what type of number should i be seeing?
 
35 to 42 psi.... or 32 to 45? I forget. The point is as RPM climb the pressure should remain constant or even climb.
 
The reason for getting a 255 isn't for an increase in pressure, it is so that the pumps builds the proper pressure at WOT, Marks can start falling on their faces in the higher rpms because the stock pumps can't keep up.

Bingo. 255 is the liters per minuter? Gallons? I forget. But the higher the number the faster the flow rate. But a stock Mark, even with a chip, only needs a 190. A 255 is for modified intake, bigger MAF and mainly larger injectors. Even with my setup I am sure I dont need 255 but that is what I am ordering tomorrow from Super Coupe Performance. Its cost a little more but comes with a bunch of Mark specific parts to make the job easier.

well, the only thing i know that is definetly not right is that i could not get the isloator (the rubber thing) on all the way - but its part way on and tightened down with the bracket - cuz it split up the side... im not sure what that rubber piece is suppose to do? but i got it on there was best i good.
well right now something funky is going on, i dont smell leaking gas so im assuming i did everything right - another possible problem is the rubber from the fuel pump to the bracket - i see most replace is with new rubber and different clamps - i fit it on and it seemed snug and secure - so if i do it all over again thats something im going to replace with some other stuff.

im leaning towards that isolator because its not the way its supposed to be - but it is on there but its ripped. the guy over on LOD cut the bottom off to fit it on

does all the first gen 1 pump sit in the fuel wires and all?
