Ok guys, I've been on here almost a year and never posted a pic of my mark, FOR A REASON! It was ugly to look at let alone be seen in, well all of that has changed. It cost 642.78 to get this done, there as a fair amount of body rotting on my passengers side door. It had been owned by a mechanic who thought he was a bodyman as well, and he pretty much covered the rotted door with bondo so it didn't look as bad. The guys at maaco actually didn't want to do the job, but now its perfect, they took 2 weeks to get it done but I don't have a complaint at all!

The first 3 are the day I dropped it off, and the others are obviously after I got it back and rinsed the dust off....

Thanks to Hellvez for completing it with the passengers corner marker/housing. Even though that housing is in near mint condition I plan on buying 2 brand new ones for an hid swap.

Also, what kind of wheels are those? I've seen em on contis or towncars I think, and as you can see I need another centercap. I have a center cap for a snowflake wheel I bought from Jamie on ebay that was obviously wrong, if anyone wants to trade.

Whaddya think?

Yeah I believe I saw your car parked a street over from a friend of mine on Cotters, I see 2 marks in providence on a consistent basis, both white gen1s, 1 with aftermarket hids

They did the fuel door, they opened the trunk and sprayed the lining, but not the underside, same with the hood and door jams, and they did a good amount of body work on my passengers door. $642

I dont want to even get started about Maaco. The car looks good. For now...

I brought my 91 caprice there about 5 years ago and got it shot white. Shaved all the emblems, antenna ect. But i didn't do good enough prep on the rear fenders. my fualt, very rusty.

Anyways, i couldn't of been happier. Their was only 1 run and it was at the very corner of the hood maybe 2-3 cm long. Also (again my mistake) i was to cheap to pay extra for the flex additive so i eventually hit the car into a hi curb. White rattle can fixed that right up.

All in all for $450 it was soooo worth it. If i had taken alittle more time preping the rear fenders and spending the extra few buck for flex it would still look awesome. No other issues, it looked great for the 3 years after that then my friend sold it. (i sold it to friend)

Yeah I've heard plenty of Maaco horror stories. I told the guy to take his time and not to rush his guys. There wasn't one run on the entire car, and only 1 spot of overspray (rear wheel well, but its black paint on black plastic so you cant see). Also, the guy that actually took the order and what not has worked with my uncle in the past so he knew the last name, which helped. I don't believe I will have any problems with it. I also don't have 1000 dollars to spend on paint that I frankly wouldn't get back if I sold it. All in all a good experience.

I have been thinking about doing that also, I would just do all the removal and prepping before I give it to them, hell I'm going to do the taping my self too.

I just want them to lay 2 coats and give it back.

Car looks awesome!!!!

I would just ditch those rims and get after markets instead of trying to find caps for them. God knows I have enough laying around my house for sale!

I don't want to be a killjoy here, the car looks good, I just hope it lasts. I bought a 79 fullsize blazer with a fresh white paint job from Maaco, it started getting chalky almost as soon as I got it. I went 4-wheeling and the paint was so porous that it actually stained it. I was later pressure washing it at the local car wash and literally "sheets" of paint started coming off it, so I figured what the hell and I practically stripped the thing with a pressure washer. I sanded it down and went and bought some of that new Dupli-color paint thats idiot-proof and painted the thing in my dads driveway. I'm no painter by any means but I saw the Blazer the other day(I sold it) and the paint still looked pretty good. I had about $200 in the paint job. Anyways I hope your Maaco did a better job than the guys did here. BTW, they are no longer in business here.

Maaco

I live in coventry and noticed that you were from providence. Did you get the car painted at Maaco in cranston?? if so they do a decent job there, I had my mustang painted there last september and it came out nice for $500. The guy that owns that place has owned it for the past twenty years. I had my cougar painted there twenty years ago. They also did a nice job on that car also.

nah, pawtucket here. they've been painting the cabs for my moms company for years and they do pretty well

i used to work at a body shop (Not Maaco), Maaco uses different paint on cars really cheap!, the shop i worked at we used: uro base coat / clear coat,

I guess the question would be can you bring your own paint then ask them to use it to save some dough? Or do you do all your own prep-work shave it to metal and take it in?

On the other hand the volume of cars macco paint should make the painters better right? If you slide the manager a extra 50 maybe he will make sure it goes smooth?
