looking to spend 10-14k... ive got three choices as of now....

1:00-04 Ford Mustang GT Standard 5 Speed Black on black.. convertible.

2: 2002-2005 Cadillac DTS or DHS Black

3: Mark VIII LSC... dont really know which year as i dont know much about them except theyre fast and beautiful...

which should i get? im really leaning towards the stang.... love to get a cobra with low miles but doubt thats gonna happen for 14..... anyone have or know of any of these for sale with less than 50k miles (exc. the mark) let me know.. thanks.

The stang would give you a good 1 up over the mark for stock hp gain.
Though they are everywere and not nearly as uncommon as a mark.

The cadi's are nice but dont know to much about them. If your looking to mod i wouldn't pick this car

The mark is a very uncommon car ( pretty much any state outside of florida) and responds nicely to mods. It's very unique as it was the first car to have factory hids (96 lsc, 97-98 all), rear neon lighting, Puddle lamps and turn signal indicators on the side mirrors (97-98). Personelly i'd go with a gen 2 (97-98)
They can be had for as little as 2k wich will probably require a new blend door acuator, suspension, cup holders ect.You can look on ebay and get a low mile fully loaded mark for under 8k. Spend 6k making it romp that mustang. Prob wouldn't cost that much though.

I got my 97 lsc (125k) for 3k and needed the blend door, front struts were binding and a bunch of little stuff that required no more than $50 to fix. Just little things that weren't a big deal to fix but were left unattended. The car itself had 0 ext/int flaws other than the things i'm fixing. Price was a big deal cuase now i can still keep my marquis.

Black paint on them tends to fade and cuase headaches. My personel fav is toredor red :)

2000 - 2004 GT has 260 HP, less than a Mark. Besides, Mustang convertibles are generally for women and posers.

yeah it's 50HP less than an LSC, 40 less than a standard Mark... BUT... also has a good bit of weight savings.

Either way, I think if you're looking for reliability, mustang... not too concerned about having to fix things... Mark.

Not even sure why you listed the caddy... that thing is like twice the size of the other two cars and where the other two are semi related in their orientation... the caddy is in a totally different country... that's how different it is. DTS?!?!?! WTF, do you WANT people to think you're 85yrs old with a walker?

OH, and for in the $14-$15 ball park, you should be able to snag yourself a 99 or 01 Cobra (try for the 01) hardtop with 50-75k miles. That will have the IRS, DOHC 4.6L (I believe 320HP rated). The 01 has better seats and interior over-all, plus it was upgraded to 31 spline axles from the previous 28 spline. Check auto trader

Is this replacing the LS, or accompanying it? If replacing, I vote mark, if you just need a fun project car go for the stang, I say avoid the deville at all costs! :D but that's just me.

aaron... hell no! im driving this lincoln till its totalled (god forbid) or i die. nate.... i love luxury... i love power. dts has both...... the marks are so beautiful tho... i do need something reliable.... which makes me lean more towards the gt... would love to get my hands on a cobra and slam it into the ground on aftermarket..... if not for the power.... for the sound of that engine!! they sound unlike any other car ive ever heard.. love em.

if all you want to do is bag it or drop it 3"... please, do me a favor and get the DTS... HAHAHA

Do not do that to a Cobra (or any mustang really)... it's sacrilegious!!

The SOHC 4.6L can sound every bit as good. Just have to get a good exhaust for it.

The Mark, with an aftermarket adjuster can be set at any height from like on the ground to 4x4 look.... but your alignment does change, so it's best to find a height to drive at and keep it there... adjust for show, snow or speed bumps. Down side to the Mark, from what I've read is keeping up with the air system and limited availability of some parts. Also no manual option (although you can convert)... and it doesn't have limited slip from the factory. And the 3.08:1 and 3.27:1(LSC) gears make it a touch on the slow side. I believe most GT's from that year range will have 3.55's, combine that with the lighter weight and better launch; has the makings for an upset when you look at power figures.

DTS is a giant boat... don't let it's relatively decent power numbers fool you... it NEEDS that power to move that giant chunk of metal... The LS, or any of the other cars you mentioned would smoke it like a cheap cigar. (atleast I think... I have no proof)

found a mark..

this ones actually only about an hr away.. honestly tho guys.... is it worth it to buy a mark? i mean..... i would love to have the time to work on it and i will work on it in the sense of hp and aesthetics .... but is it gonna break down on me? is it gonna need parts replaced at 100k? i dont mind buying a decent car and spending 1k to get it up to par.. but i just sold a pos truck that all i did was fix and im trying to get away from the old black hand syndrome.................. i love the car tho... beautiful.. just is it worth it? say.. how much would i spend to get this "new used" and running well so i dont have to repair the transmission in 50k...

also.. whats the diff between the diamond anv. edition... would you rather have this or the lsc?

I'd rather have the LSC... I like the sportier look to it.

I'd do a JMod or B&M shift kit to the trans if you get it... also consider an upgraded tranny cooler.

You'll most likely need ro replace the air suspension (I've heard this can be done for a fair price) due to age... and you might later on have issues with the IMRC's sticking

I'd get a mark... But then again, I intend on getting one... hopefully spring/summer

I'm sorry... but a 9 year old BMW??!?!?! That's really rather poser-ish unless it's an M-series

No one really WANTS 9 year old standard BMW's... they aren't anything special or unique. The thing about the Mark is that it IS unique, and for a sports luxury car, it's got the most potential for power. The Mark is timeless... where as the BMW is dated.

Plus, I've owned a used BMW before; it's nothing special (especially a 3 series)... handling is okay, power is acceptable...

With the mark, you're getting good factory power, good handling and good ride... With the potential to get great handling and great power.

Anyhow, good luck with whatever you opt to get

youre kidding... a 328ic is way more rare than a mark....... maybe not the i... but the ic def. and poserish? you must be joking.. nothing about a beamer is poserish. im sorry but bwms are waaaay better quality than any ford product out there. i love my ls.. but hey.. come on...... its american. alles klar das bmw ist einen dutsche auto und kann hab das hp jeden tag am das ford!!

"With the potential to get great handling and great power." this comes stock on bmw's. no need for upgrades.

"No one really WANTS 9 year old standard BMW's" apparantly i do... and so many other people.... its a vert at that.

oh how opinonated we are.

I'd pass......For as much as your going to buy that for you could get a <40k 97-98 lsc in mint shape.

And as far as reliability goes, european cars for a fact are far worse. Japan, n.america than european. Read up on consumer reports and other agencies that report vehicle reliability and cost to maintain.

Great performance out of a 99 3-series? lol... Who cares if its an i or ic or whatever letter you stick on there, when I see a bmw, I only look at the first digit anyway. Sure you can say you drive a BMW, but are you going to want to say yeah it's a 99 3 series? no.

That's the truth... most euro brand rate below ALL US brands. Ever have a timing belt replaced on a BMW?!??! bend over... Not too many higher end US cars run timing belts... (and they ARE wear out components requiring a replacement interval... the US style timing chains... do not...)

As I said before... don't kid yourself, I've owned a used BMW... it will nickel and dime you to death

c stands for convertible big man. ;) im sure if i went to a beamer forum..... theyd be saying the same biased shi t about ford. were all biased.. well us closed minded peeps... i try to keep an open mind and not be blind.

As I was saying... who cares, it's a 3 series, and a 1999 at that.
