I've got a 97' mark and the speaker grilles are rattlin to beat hell.. I was just wondering if you guys had some nifty ideas on how to calm it down :D... thanks so much!

..Not familiar with gen 2 speaker grilles, but if you're talking about the rears and they're comparible to the gen 1, .. I took mine out and tweaked them a bit, to get the mesh away from the plastic skeleton, and it worked. And it looks as good as new.

It's mainly the lower front door speakers... if I can't stop the rattle is there anyway to replace them?...

The speakers are probably blown, get some new ones at any car audio shop.

That's funny that you say that... I just did some research and yeah the passenger side speaker is blown... my girlfriend must've been jammin out hard since I like my music thick and comfortable... she blasts it though! crazy girls thanks for the help guys!!

yea i took the opportunity to throw some MB quarts i had laying around and couldnt be happier.

for the covers I removed them and put some clear sylocone around them and reintalled, a little goes a long way. as far as the speakers buy new and use some dynamat aroud them.

I wish I could get her to pay for them... she doesn't care that it rattles she just turns the bass down so it sounds like tin... sux... and yeah I also wish I could get some MB quarts... I'm thinkin about some infinity's... I've always like the sound resolution on them...

and yeah I got some left over dynamat from a friend's car that I lined his trunk with... took me forever to convince him to do it... stupid trunk was rattling so bad!!... finally listened to me now his sub only has to work half as hard for the same output...

I like the idea of just sealing the grill I was thinkin about that... is there any type of sealant you'd recommend?... and instead of clear wouldn't black look better?

Look on Ebay sometimes you get lucky and find someone that just wants to get rid of them, Also I suggest Craigslist. Its an awesome resource not many people know about.

Yeah I regularly check the local craigslist here in denver... got a good price on an amp off there... saw some sweet mb quarts a couple months ago but I had to the money into new coils...

Yeah I like JL too... but mainly they're subs... I was thinking bout... new components in front for right now... rear doesn't do much for the sound stage... new HU... hopefully something with a USB port... swap out the amp... rewire the rear speakers so when I decide to upgrade them they're all ready... and a good JL 10" sub in the back... don't really like the bigger subs... not as tight and accurate sounding... plus they have a smaller footprint... I'm not lookin for earth shaking bass just like the fullness you get...

How do you take them off? (on a Gen II)

to remove the front grilles on a gen 2 is pretty easy as long as you don't care about havin to put them back in correctly... you can just pry them off carefully... there's little metal tabs that hold them in place... they suck!!... so I'm totally gonna just silicone them back in when I replace the speaker... I was also thinking of taking the leather off the panel and reglue that also... figure might as well since the panel will be off

Actually only the rear speaker grilles rattle And I think they are same as the GEN I but I would have to compare it when I have both of them sitting in my driveway.
