I noticed a small puddle under my car today. I laid down on the ground to get a look and found it right away. It's on the passenger side right behind the front bumper. There's a line coming down from somewhere with what looks to be some sort of inline filter and the line continues to the rear of the car. That's what leaking oil of some sort.

I didn't have my camera with me at the time and now it's dark. If no one knows what this is I can snap a pic tomorrow in daylight. But when I call the shop to have it fixed I'd like to be able to tell them exactly what it is.

(I really wish that info would appear below the user name, etc on the left...)

what colour is the flud coming out??? Green, red, black?
Your HYD. pump fan is there(red), transmission lines (red), many rad lines(green) and oil filter (black).

alright, here's a closeup. In the photo, as I said above, we're in front of the passenger front wheel looking back. The fluid appears to be reddish. It's clumped up because I was driving around in the snow today. Hopefully this will clear things up.

Is that stock? It looks after market to me. Most factory install do not use screw clamps on oil lines under pressure.

nicely done ground zero! I'll have to remember that website.

GWL, I have no idea if that's stock or not. I do know that it was on the car when I bought it, though.

Thanks for the help

OK, I went out to My 04 to see what it has installed on it. Unfortunately, my car is on Eibach springs and without a lift it is difficult to trace those hoses. My car does not have that in-line filter installed. However, in the Lincoln repair manual on page 307-01-137 and 138 there is a reference to the procedure to install an in-line transmission filter in that line "If the transmission was overhauled----" "If installing a Ford-authorized re manufactured transmission, install the in-line ---filter that is supplied." The procedure does involve cutting the line to install the filter. The filter shown is about the same size as the one in your picture, but it has small fins that go around the cannister, unlike the smooth body on your filter. Perhaps, your's is a newer product.

That would make perfect sense then as my car was a factory buy back for a transmission problem. The factory reworked the original tranny and sold it with a 1 year warranty. Off to the shop it goes to get fixed for free! Too bad the loaner is a Ford Taurus. I know beggers can't be choosers, but really? A Taurus? Not that it's a horrible car or anything it's just so uncomfortable...
