Scratches that aren't your fault

I have two that come to mind.

Apparently a wet cat tried to get onto my car but couldn't grip the sloped surface very well. I now have four claw scratches that are into the paint and through the pinstripe, yes, all the way through. I know this was from a cat because the tracks lead across the trunk lid, up the back window, and end at a large round spot we're I'll assume it slept. The tracks then pick up, head towards the front and end on a side window where it jumped off.

The 2nd one that comes to mind is much more annoying. I was waiting in a long line, I had parked before the line had fully formed, seems the line went right by my car. At one point there was a man in jeans and a jacket leaning against my car. We made mention of it and he stopped. Later on I notice a nice scratch from what I'll assume was his zipper. It starts on the neon tail light goes across the keyhole area and continues back onto the tail light. It's atleast 8 inches long.

How would I go about removing or fixing the plastic the best I can?

I'm sure some of you have interesting stories?

People that play bumper cars while parking. They're more like gouges than scratches. I could understand if it was me, but it's not. Pisses me off.

Plastix by McGuire's is pretty good. I used on on my head lights with success.

i was eating lunch one nice spring day in a Wendy's parking lot and some punk kids drop up and pounded my pass side door when he opened his. They didn't see me a laughed and spat on the car. I had a Cop friend come over and block his car until we got his parents number. His dad was ex Marine and not very happy with him, not only was he skipping school, he did not even have a valid driver's license (expired learner's permit). I can still hear him screaming as his Dad shut the door on his hand.... No real damage to the Mark, had to buff out a long rub mark and wash the car- really good - fair trade for the memories and the scream...

(I hate it when people just leave their carts all over the lot - so lazy) Anyway, the wind was very strong and a cart blew across the car park and smacked a newish black SUV right in the drivers door as the tool was reversing. The fool was pissed and started screaming at me! He then pushed the cart away from his car and it smacked into a load of others! What a jerk....

With regard to light scratches that do not penetrate the clear coat, i have had good results with Scratch X.

I have a black car, and my opinion scratch X doesn't work as good as it should. It's toooo fine. For plastics you can wetsand and buff the scratches out but it takes a more coarse compound than scratch X by a long shot. I used 3 steps of 3M on my tail lights when I repainted my car and they came out like brand f'n new. Scratch X is good for swirls, that's about it. I've got more crap off my car with a claybar than scratch X, and it barely had any junk on it. FYI to any idiot, that's a sad statement for a compound you're trying to get actual scratches out with.

Depending on how deep the scratch is I'd wetsand, then you can follow up with some heavy plastic polish, then a finishing plastic polish. If it's not too deep you might be able to get away with polish. Overkill on clearcoat and plastic is never good, go with the least aggressive method first.

you should get a electric shock system put on your car so when that cat climbs on to your car it will know never to do that again
