While we're on the subject... I had an 88 Saleen with a stock 5.0.  Had 40,000 on it when I got it in 1995.  Had 318,000 on it when it was stolen in 2005.  I ran Mobil  1 15w-50 full syn for the life of the car.  Changed the oil one time in ten years.  It was burning a quart every 1000-1200 miles when it was stolen.  Original engine, no mods or power adders, and no smoking.  Car ran like a bat out of hell and oil pressure was consistent mid-range...  So... either I was very lucky, 5.0's are bulletproof, synthetic oil changes are bull:q:q:q:q, or a quart every 1200 miles was oil change enough for that car.
