I am going to do an exhaust job on my 97. My plan is to eliminate the third cat, and replace the the other two cats with high flow cats. What would be some good cats to use? Would the computer then have a problem with this set up and start shooting out check engine lights? What benefits would a SCT program do for me after I do this?

you probably wont have a check engine light. but if you do, the chip will allow the light to not come on anyway. screw high flow cats, run a straight pipe! :D

Run the high flow cats. Don't use a straight pipe! It will not give you any gains and you will have stinky exhaust!

Hey GMAN let me know how the hi-flow cats do in an inspection,I am very interested to know the results. I am also looking into replacing my exhaust but I want it clean and legal.

so what is a good web site i can get high flow cats that wont loose me power?

try summit racing i think catco has high flow cats don't expect a trip to the hospital after installing these for neck snapping performance

Stock cats are of the higher flow style modern oem cats, they are fine.
I wouldnt waste a dime on high flow cats unless you had headers and actually needed them or a high boost, nos application or bada$$ na setup.

Yep, I would agree with that.

I left the two I have in for now, but dropped the center and put in a VTek dual in dual out Xover rectangle muffler (cool black coat on it)connecting it to the orig. pipe then cutting both at the first turn and replaced with 2 3/8 grit polished finish, then curving out, same pipe tipped of with a 5" polished ss oval!

He sounds HOT!!! Only gets loud when I want him to and pick up is nice. The VTek under the console feels great! Unbelievable difference!

I have been bustin my hump on getting my air ride fixed here are a few pics I took and one of the pipes before install. The side one really does not do them justice, I had the installer turn the pipes down a bit so they would be visable from the wheel on back - he did a great job!

I can't tell ya how much you will enjoy the difference, and the beefy vibration ya feel with the muffler right there - sweeet!

Smooches!
