Audio Question./ sputter question in 1 thread

ok. i have 2 subs and a amp. i have hooked up many systems. but never hooked up to stock radio.

I have a line converter. I have power, ground and subs hooked up to amp. everything is good to go except..

-RCA.. where do i hook left and right speaker up to? behind radio or in trunk? can someone give me color codes to the wires i need to hook up?
-ALSO remote.... in trunk i have searched and it says "diod 2" i belive i have no clue of where this is. i hooked it to the +pos wire to the rear amp but the amp says on 24/7 so i need to find a remote that comes on when the car does.

also have this sputter when i give it alot of gas. i belive it's spark plugs only. hopefully not COP because they are expensive. ford wants 180 to change out my spark plugs... i think i just going to get the DIY and do it in a few days. NO CEL but i hooked up to my OBD and i found miss-fire on cyl 2.

welcome to the house of pain. I can answer the mis fire question for... I would replace the plugs, coil boots and the coils as well as the gaskets for the valve covers. If you are a DIYer with minimal tools you can do it.

I highly suggest subscribing to alldatadiy.com or the motorcraft.com service manuals. Both are online and very worth the expense.

You would think I would have the colors memorized by now, but let me tell you what to do. If you have the rear decklid speakers, crawl in your trunk and look at the colors of the wires. If you dont then pull off your back 2 door panels, speakers come out easy. Look at the wires. If you dont have the rear deck speakers, any auto parts and even wal-mart sells the latest and greatest wire connectors. Let me try to explain them to you. The color you need I think is blue. They are made so you can slide one wire in without cutting it and the rca converter wire slides in the other slot, use some pliers and clamp it down. It splices into the harness and voila, very easy and no cutting. Rca wires should connect right up. If you only have the door speakers, then it would be best to do it behind the radio.

yes i have the blue wire connectors. i have the line converter.. i have a amp on the top of my trunk that is going to my back speakers as subs. i just wanted to know what colors to tap into for left + and left - and right + and right - .... before the amp or after. even if i tap from behind the radio ( the easiest way for me because it's already out) i need to know what colors POS and NEG are. Any way someone have a diagram on the colors? or just done it and knows offhand? i have rca's ran to behind the radio and in the trunk so i can do either or... i just need to know where to tap in also for the remote.

right now money = tight so plugs are gonna be it but i will over the next few months change it all out. still drives fine just when i get on it.

Unfortunately plugs are most likely not going to solve your problem, you would be better off to skip the plugs and replace the #2 coil first. Once you get the coil covers off, you are probably also going to find oil in the wells due to leaking valve cover gaskets. Get as much of the oil out as you can, then check it again in a couple of weeks to see how fast they are leaking. If they are filling up pretty fast, you want to replace the gaskets ASAP or you'll end up replacing all the coils. Unfortunately it's a very common problem on the early engines.
