I have the factory Alpine Audiophile system with the indash 6-disk abd I'm wondering the following. Is is possible to install Infinity 2 ohm speakers in the doors us the existing factory HU. I know the existing factory speakers are 4 ohm. Has anyone done this with success or is the load to low for the amp? Thanks

got to stay matched - bad things can happen to your amp is you are not properly loaded.

nope - you match the ohms to the amp - if it's 4ohms stay at 4 ohms. The output wattage of the amp is calculated using the ohmage of the load - you half the resistance - you can really hurt the amp.
remember - OHMS LAW - Amps (I) = Volts (E) / Ohms (R)
if you half the Ohms you allow more amps - which is why some people think the speaker sound better (loader, ..etc) but you put the amp at risk.

Cut the resistance in half twice the amps can flow. YOu risk putting saaay, 1200 watts on a 600 watt amp. These burn and go boom when you do that. "You ask "Well wont the fuse blow?" Yeah it should. Then what do you do? PUT IN A BIGGER FUSE!! Not good.

I knew about the Ohm thing but the factory becomes unstable below 4ohms . . . isn't that a little week? I thought it would b at least 2ohms . . . now I'm dissappointed.

not a good idea, you could do it if the speaker was more ohms. But why would you want to do that.

Hmmm, and you're positive that the factory speakers are in fact 4 ohm?
If you refer to an older thread I created, the 6x9 subs in the deck are 2 ohm according to Bill from Team Ford. These however have their own seperate amp from the HU, and I'm not sure the door speakers configuration.

Positive! The door speakers are all 4Ω (it is actually printed on the magnet)
The rear deck speakers are indeed 2Ω but as you said they are powered by a seperate amp, not the HU.
HU power is typically weak and does not come close to the sound quality of even a small amp.
If you were to get an aftermarket amp (one stable at 2Ω) then you could run the Infinities. I have never been a fan of the Infinity speakers, they dont put out much midbass. Compare the frequency response to another brand (kicker, kenwood, alpine, jbl) in the same price range and you will see what I mean.
